That's fair. I'm a pretty wild and crazy guy. I have no problem embarrassing somebody for my own entertainment - even strangers. But I wouldn't bring myself to attempt to interject myself into that situation unless it were for professional reasons related to my newspaper.

What newspaper?

How is it significantly different than registering at a message board in order to post in a train wreck thread, for example?

I'm not sure what you are specifically referencing (if anything), but the significant difference between the two is abundantly clear:

Posting on a thread and making silly comments does not intentionally enter the "real world."

Sending an invitation for the husband to come here does. Sending the wife Facebook friend requests does.

Well, because one way is anonymous entertainment and the other is crashing into somebody's life uninvited. Worse than uninvited.

I'm pretty wild and crazy, too. As long as it is done in a pre-meditated, planned way.

Little tiny community paper in the LS area.

I actually feel pretty bad for all of the families involved.

Agreed.

I'm with you on the husband thing. Clay's pretty clearly going over the edge (from what I've read here, this is somewhat cyclical for him) and is probably just a few stupid posts away from another banning.

But I'm not getting the friend request as an issue. It's not as if she's required to accept them, after all, and she is not an innocent party (at least reportedly).

Now she might be dead and people are dog-piling on Goatse.

Where's the fun in that?

so what you're saying is.... this thread is par for the course here on CP?

You can't become a friend if she doesn't allow you to do so. How is that not an invitation?

If intentionally trying to hurt a person who has done you no wrong just so you can have a few laughs is what floats your boat, by all means, have at it.

How is making a friend request an attempt to try to hurt a person? I don't use Facebook, so I'm unfamiliar with this method of torture.

Also, isn't what you're saying here pretty much what I was saying about the train wreck threads?

Titty Meat 03-09-2011 04:42 PM

I know the husbands family so if Clay is giving the guy shit I'd be more than happy to forward his personal information to them.

I would think she understands why of a sudden your email is flooded with hundreds of friends request.
