I'm on the trade-him bandwagon unless there's no other option. He was good in the Superbowl but I can't forget that it was his guy who fell on Mahomes' ankle in the Jags game.

I'm in the tag and trade him. He's average with a very good quality of being durable. He struggles against elite competition, especially quick guys, so he was dog crap during the hardest part of the schedule and got better when the competition got worse.

[And the team only wanting to give a short contract wasn't exactly a rousing endorsement...]

But he has also been in a contract year the last two years.

So you don't know 100% what will happen when/if he gets a huge guaranteed contract...

Didn't Veach just offer him a 5 yr deal last season or whatever? Did I dream that?

They have the #1 overall pick. They could just draft one of those "can't miss" guys you mentioned earlier.

And get 5 years cost controlled with that pick.

Of course it is. It's why they're gonna sign OBJ and people will be pissed.

If they sign him long term then I will support it. At this point Veach has earned the benefit of the doubt based on how he has performed since becoming our GM.

Yep.

Tackle Matthew Bergeron Syracuse, 2nd rd early 6.5 33.5" arms
Tackle Cody Mauch North Dakota State, 2nd rd late 6.5 32" arms

Draft scouts say they are better pass blockers than run, mobile on zone blocking scheme

We aren't drafting baby-armed LTs; CP has been pretty clear about their bias against T-Rex type players in general. The only baby-arms CP wants to see are in a player's shorts.

Now the "who gets paid game??". It comes down to replace ability.

Would it be better to pay OBjr or CJ? I would say you would be better off paying CJ (through an extension) than a long-term contract for OBjr. This of course makes the assumption that we are not in dire need of cap space. Thus I would tag and continue to talk about contract with OBjr. Knowing full well he wont be seen until training camp and he'll be under performing for the first part of next season.

Madden trade 101:

Chiefs trade OT Orlando Brown, LB Willie Gay 2023 1st #31, 2023 2nd #63, 2023 3rd #95, and 2024 1st to Chicago for 2023 1st #1

Chiefs trade Colts 2023 1st #1 for 2023 1st #4, 2023 2nd #35, 2023 4th #105, 2024 1st

Chiefs draft OT Paris Johnson at #4

Profit.

Not arguing the logic.

Just saying that somehow Veach thought he could both sign OBJ and keep CJ.

Veach is drafting, and since Wylie is likely gone, you need a OT developmental prospect. Andy like OT's with good feet and they seem to fit his qualifications. Great length and arms hasn't helped OBjr. Frankly I think the whole day 1 is set up for a tradeback into another 2nd and an extra 3rd. You know Veach gets into "Monty Hall" mode on draft day
