Florio is reporting we offered a 3 year 74 million dollar deal with 70 million being guaranteed, not even close to what Donald got on his 3 year deal. Florio is also reporting that Jones would take an 84.5 mil deal if he were offered that.

I guess Florio is talking directly with Jones or one of the Katz brothers, because that is very specific reporting.

Someone with superior twitter skills will have to post the link. I saw all that off Dov Kleiman's tweet.

Well now, since they enlisted Whorio's help through the media...just sit out now Chrissy. We'll see you week 8.....maybe. SB be damned, and that'll make you real popular around the lockers.

If that's what Veach is offering then I'm on his side. I hope he stands strong and doesn't cave in. That's more than fair for Jones at this point in his career. Don't destroy this team's salary cap for a very good but aging DT.

3 > 1

He already has $2M in fines that can’t be waived from missing training camp.

This is a fair point for sure — but to make more than Williams on your second deal isn’t unfair either. Ultimately, it’s his call if he wants to show up but his strategy — if these numbers are true — is really not smart.

Wish we could trade him for a couple 1's.

Sure. But also, it's 3M per year. So 12M over 4.

It is if you feel you're better than Williams which Jones is.

That's more than a fair offer—27.5 million per in new money, which splits the difference between Donald's rediculous contract and the next highest paid.

We could have in March if he would have made his demands known then.

But that’s not the offer the Chiefs made.

And no one was trading 2 1’s for Chris Jones at any point ever.

74 million over 3 years isn't 27.5M....

If he hadn't made his demands known then, then even more reason to trade him. That would have been the signal that they weren't going to negotiate in good faith.

This is from Reddit. Can anyone translate this?

*********
his old deal still has 19.5M left on it for this year. So really, the 84.5M/3 years is an additional 65M/2 years on top of his current deal, which makes for a 32.5M AAV

This isn’t how it works. Average annual value is the average over the entire life of the years on the contract - you can’t just pick and choose a couple of them.
