More like never, but age is a factor, although I believe if he goes to a good team he will be a 70 catch TE for another 4 yrs.

Why does that player have to be comparable in talent to Tony?

If he's NOT traded, then he's likely retiring after the 2009 season anyway, and then we have NOTHING to show for it.

It's like the talk about "replacing" Jared Allen.

This team has so many holes, I'd rather have several solid starters for the next 10-12 years, than one player - who's proven he was playing for the big payday.

If we traded TG, and used the draft pick to select, say, a RG who becomes the anchor of the OL for the next 10 years, then it was absolutely worth it. Or a MLB. Or any solid starter.

And if they pick an absolute bust, then it was STILL worth it, because we weren't winning WITH Gonzalez to begin with. We have nothing to lose.

Fans are letting sentimentality get in the way of business.

I was thinking the same thing, can't believe the Giants wouldn't part with a 3rd round pick for 2 or 3 years of having Gozno in the backfield. He's the best in the game at his position, arguably the best ever.

I think you're missing my point. Tony's a known quantity. Can the same be said about a draft pick?

Nope.

A draft pick has the potential to help this team for the next 10-12 years.

Can the same be said about Tony?

New York Giants WR Sinorice Moss was a healthy inactive Monday in Cleveland.

Are the New York Giants prepared to deal Sinorice Moss as part of a package for Tony Gonzalez?

With this afternoon's NFL trade deadline looming, The Star-Ledger's Mike Garafolo thought he caught a tip that the Giants might be prepared to trade WR Sinorice Moss as part of a Tony Gonzalez deal. Did you see this item he had last night?

It's the third time Moss has been a healthy scratch this year, so what's the big deal?
Well, the trading deadline is Tuesday. So did the Giants have a trade worked out for Moss and did they want to make sure he didn't injure himself? Perhaps they had a trade worked out with the Chiefs for tight end Tony Gonzalez?

More "rumor" from the Giants board a few minutes ago....

.As per giants101, there is supposed to be a deal on the table for gonzo, involving moss and a 5th round pick
Rumors Swirl - Giants Close to Gonzo Deal?

We've been doing all we can to get some information on this Tony Gonzalez situation here at Giants 101, and I've just received word that a Gonzalez deal is on the table. The deal reportedly involves Giants third-year wideout Sinorice Moss and a mid-round draft pick - possibly a 5th round pick.

However, I've also been told that the Buffalo Bills have made a significant offer to the Chiefs for Gonzalez as well, that could include a higher draft pick than the mid-round pick the Giants have on the table along with Moss.

Updates to follow here on Giants 101..

According to the ESPN Radio update Micheal Smith says it now looks like the deals to trade TG are unlikely. Several formal offers have been received but only mid round picks were offered and the sources say the Chiefs will not move off of their demand of a second.
