You think they get open simply because they're big and fast? Making quick cuts/fast twitch movement is part of running routes. That's what makes guys like Megatron and Moss such great talents, because they're a complete package. Dwayne Bowe is another example of that. He's a big dude that can stop and cut on a dime. Big, lumbering receivers simply struggle to get open. For as fast as they might be, the DB's are just as fast. |
Quick cuts and route running are one in the same.
You have to be able to run good clean crisp routes to gain separation (unless you have ungodly ability) and even then it's tough. Look at Randy Moss for example. Late in his career, he was just a burner who ran 9's and posts. But early in his career, he was an excellent route runner. |

That's Baldwins problem. He's plodding and lacks agility....that and he can't seem to time his jumps very well. |
Not only that, but defenders are intelligent in that they can use their physicality to bump guys in breaks to throw them off routes if you dont' run good routes.

Baldwin has no balance for being as big as he is, and thus every 5'9 CB can jam him at the LOS and throw him completely off the route and the disrupt the timing of the pattern
until he learns how to beat the press, hes useless. He's just too big and he cant control all his size from being jammed. Top heavy frame. If CBs werent allowed to be physical or touch you the guy would be awesome, like how he was in college. But the NFL you are almost getting jammed every play if that's the strategy how to stop you That's the gameplan on him, which is why defenses can stack in the box against JC or roll double coverage over to Bowe cause we have no other respectable threat. They just send some shitty to press Baldwin and that's it |

I wonder if we can get a 3rd or 4th from NE for Baldwin. Maybe package Moeaki and Baldwin for a third?
