Losing CJ means they can afford to resign Gay and Omenihu if they so desire.

I am as well. He has shown the ability to be a brilliant GM and that is critical in a salary cap era. It would be nice to keep the band together, but it’s just not realistic.

No, you brought up their top "contracts", yet they are arguably the GOATS at their positions, Chris Jones is not.

Still don't know what your arguments is... If Jones takes the Bag great, if he takes $30 like you said the Chiefs should offer, great. If he takes the latter he will be remembered much more fondly by Chiefs fans than if he takes the former. What exactly are you mad about?

I think you are overestimating feelings if he leaves. This isn’t a Neil Smith type situation. Tony Gonzalez is still thought of fondly by most Chiefs fans despite the manner of his exit. Jones has given his all to this franchise and now wants one more big payday and if KC can’t afford it, someone else will.

Listen to that Reid interview with Eisen (I believe). That third down play in OT that caused SF to kick a FG was epic. He was exhausted and gave all that he had left and the rest was history. He is a huge reason why KC has three Lombardis in five years and that will get him in the Ring of Honor and cheers when he comes back for that ceremony.

He will be remembered fondly, but not held nearly in the esteem if we win 3 in a row, or another in the next 3 years and he retires a Chief. Tony Gonzales would have much more popularity in KC if he would have retired a Chief. Many of us understood why Tony did it, he wanted to win the big one, but that cost him some capital with Chiefs fans.

And what kind of decline do you see Chris having the next 3 years percentage wise? If the past 2 years are at 100% prime Chris Jones, how do you project his decline based on that number?

All those snaps were 100% on the right side of 30. Every snap that follows will be on the wrong side of 30. Father time catches us all in the end. That's a fact.

Best to let him walk now.

Gonzalez didn't go to the Raiders or the Broncos...so most everyone gave him a bye...except when there was a quote that he would go to the Hall of Fame as a Falcon...

Neil Smith went to the hated Broncos so he lost some luster to me....Rodney Hudson left the Chiefs and went to the hated Raiders and everyone despised him.

If Jones leaves and goes to any where but Denver or Las Vegas I will wish him the best and look forward to seeing him shine save for any time he faces the Chiefs.

If he goes to the Broncos or Raiders he will get my Neil Smith treatment.

I think people may be reading to much into the hour glass. For all we know it just means they are waiting to announce the deal?

Really its smart not to. Once we announce the CJ signing other teams know we are more likely to trade Snead, possibly reducing his trade value.

Veach could be leveraging this situation to maximize a trade for Snead. Telling other teams that he is keeping Snead if he cant deal with Jones.

Unless he gets an offer to hard to refuse for Snead...

Then when the market opens, he announces both deals! Boom!

Really no reason to do it any other way.

How do you feel about Jamal Charles?

I still love the guy...

It feels a bit different with Charles. He had all his prime years in KC and didn't decide to leave for Denver to get a bag when he could have stayed in KC for years to come.

And judging from his post career years he still bleeds red and gold.
