We know this. We see it year after year after year. He hasn't been on an NFL team and therefore has not been participating in organized NFL practices, team sessions, etc... He's not in football shape. He can't be. That's not exactly the end of the world but it DOES subject him to the possibility of annoying little tweaks and such. Because getting hit by a 260+ lb guy trying to blow his way past/through you is just something that nothing BUT playing football can prepare you for. |

But they aren't going to subject him to a torn pec or something if he's out there in practice and struggling to keep his top and bottom halves aligned through contact. Injuries are often a result of a misstep created by iffy technique. They have to watch him actually do reps before they know when they can realistically expect him to play without risk of injury that would extend into the post-season. |

If this dude isn’t starting against the Chargers, I’ll stop eating red meat. |
He’s 100% in shape in terms of agility and strength. He’s a vet he knows what’s needed to be ready physically.
They’ll likely push him in practice a bit like camp. To me it’s really is like camp. First day of pads and after a couple week these guys are ready to hit someone else. Only worry is rust. Welcome back DJ…now go out there a block Mack/Bosa, Garrett, Hunter/Anderson, Watt and Bonitto. Goddamn |
