Lucas has been the missing piece from a Defensive standpoint.

Landen has been great but Traylor has too and we were winning that game no matter what. Traylor could've started and we'd have won too

I agreed with you until that last statement

They're not shutting down UConn like that without him on the interior. The three blocks/one steal says some of it, but his presence was felt in a massive way.

Traylor is nowhere near as good a player has Lucas has become. They're really not even close at this point.

Lucas has become the necessary defensive piece that you always needed beside a guy like Ellis. He's holding it all together in there. They didn't have it in either of the last two years (2014 with the Embiid injury, 2015 with Cliff's issues), but it is what has turned this team from merely good to great over the last two months.

Disagree. Traylor has been great, and I hated him

All 5 starters played 30+ tonite which was unlike Self. Clank Mason 1-8 was atrocious and he needs to step up next round. But Perry + Wayne were MEN

Traylor has been fine. Solid enough role player that provides energy. He's not the game changer defensively or elite rebounder that Lucas is, though.

I wouldn't have trusted anybody but the starters tonight either.

But our bench is a YUGE advantage over other teams' benches. Nobody in the country has our bench

"Clank Mason" made me LOL.

His play down the stretch has not been good at all. He's not been horrible but he really needs to step it up next weekend.

Was reported a few days ago that he's still dealing with foot and hip issues that came out of that WVU war game. Certainly wasn't good today (although he did come back in and helped stabilize them when UConn got within 9 with nine minutes left).

Hes banged up. There was no reason we should have played him vs West Virginia in a meaningless game.

I was hard on Lucas this season. And deservedly so. He was disaster. He has turned it around. Whether it was Self coaching him up or maybe his teammates wanting him in the lineup.

Whatever it was his play has elevated the team. We were getting beat on the boards. Driving the lane too easy. He deserves the props for turning his season around and making this team better.

Yes. Thank God for Landen Lucas.

I watched the Arizona WSU game with my Buddy and I told him that I would rather have Lucas than Kaleb Tarzuski. Tarzuski has way more to work with but if the game is on the line give me Landen. And if you look at their recruiting ranks they shouldn't even be in the same universe. If Tarzuski would have come to KU Self would have made him a mountain of money.

Self is God. He took a physically limited JAG player and made him a key cog in the #1 overall team in the country. A lot of it is on Lucas wanting it, but man.

Of course, no coach in the country is going to bench his starters and willingly lose a championship game. It was simply not realistic to expect as much.

Besides, I think winning such a game against a physical team like that helped them mentally anyway.
