Defenses are so helpless against some of these offenses though, it makes sense to guarantee at least one possession each.

Before the rule change, i always said keep it sudden death but make the opening coin toss, if you win the toss and accept, you also get the ball first in OT. If you defer (since just about everyone but the Bengals do) the opponent gets the ball first to start the game and first in OT.
It would make a lot of teams think about if they want to just automatically defer.
