Which is pretty much what North Carolina and Duke get just about every year.

Everything I'm reading about Maryland is that they have the talent to be a top 5 team. Their starting 5 is as good as anyone in the country. They also have a couple of really big dudes coming off the bench for their front court. But they just haven't put it all together as a team. Melo likes to try to get FTs. They don't rebound nearly as well as you would expect for a team with their size. They really struggled down the stretch of the season and lost several games. If KU keeps playing the way they've been playing, they should win this game and quite possible by double digits. Need Frank to be Frank again and Selden to continue doing what he's been doing lately.

Maryland is ranked #22 in Kenpom and their SOS is 44th best.

They are 1-5 vs top 25 but 4-1 vs 26-50 in the RPI. Their record down the stretch was 7-5 before the NCAA tourney.

Yeah, it's kind of where the 'crapshoot' thing comes into play (pre-excuse!)... someone here said Gottlieb went as far as saying Maryland is more talented at every position... so in theory, they're dangerous (A++++ game!), but they've only beaten Iowa (when they were apparently playing well, at #3) and Purdue, UConn in December.. they struggled against ranked teams late in the season, besides giving MSU a game (which they were down ~6-10 most of the game).

RTF

Looking for us to return the favor from 2002 tonight....
I like KU's chances as long as:

Lucas stays out of foul trouble
Keep Trimble off the FT line
Wayne is hitting his shots
Frank is Frank from the first of the year
Ellis is Ellis

If all those happen....KU wins

If all of that happens, we win big.

If we play the way we've been playing. Solid defensively, usual production out of Ellis, solid rebounding, throw in Graham or Mason playing good - we win.

Regardless of what happens, the one thing I am sure of is that the team isn't overlooking this game tonight.

With all the "Maryland is so much more talented than KU" talk - I'm hoping they are going to play with a chip on their shoulder.

We'll win by 10

Lucas is going to be very important today in dealing with Trimble. If he gets in foul trouble, that may be an issue.

Refs could be an issue too. I saw some fouls called for him on some pretty bad flops their last game.
