Watch Hitchcock start Allen in the next game, Allen gets a shutout and Hitch creates a goalie controversy out of it.

Because Hitch.

Elliott has to be the guy. He's been amazing since Allen went down. Frankly, he's always been given short shrift around here. His numbers compare favorably to literally every single goalie in the NHL since he's been a Blue. Price, Quick, Lundqvist - none of them have been demonstrably better than Elliott over the last several years.

But when the playoffs come, Hitch seems determined to bury Elliott and it seems to all spring from a single bad game (hell, a single bad goal) against the Kings a few years back. That game 4 loss against the Kings where he gave up 4 seemed seems to have permanently tarnished him. Don't get me wrong, that game was BAD. We had a 2-0 lead and even after coughing that up, took a 3-2 lead to the third only to lose 4-3. The series went from the Blues being up 3-1 and heading back to STL to being tied at 2-2.

And then of course Blues stuff happened, they scored 3 goals in the last 2 games and went home early. I just don't think it's fair to hang that on Elliott.

Damn, the AVS play terrible vs in a 4 point game the wild then play damn good vs Nashville last night. Good win for them, but it may be too late.

Unsurprisingly, Allen pitched a shutout in his last start (after 2 straight from Elliott) and of course Hitch says that he won't be naming a #1 for the post-season but rather both goalies will likely play in the playoffs.

All 6 games of it.

#Bluesstuff.....nothing changes but the date.

Who the heck alternates goalies in the playoffs?

A team with two goalies who could start on any NHL team. So, the Blues.

Yes, it's odd, but it's a great problem to have.

No it isn't.

I'd rather one of them just get injured.

You're not winning a Stanley Cup without your goalie standing on his head and probably stealing at least one round. A goalie's not going to do that if his coach isn't going to commit to him.

Ask Urban Myer how dicking around with 3 potential All-American Quarterbacks worked out for him.

Look at Elliott's numbers during his time in St. Louis - NOBODY is better than him. Look at his GAA, SV%, QS% or any advance metric you'd like. At worst he's the equal of guys like Price and yet Hitch does everything in his power to bury him.

This is stupid. Some day somebody will have to tell me why the hell we didn't hire Todd McLellan when he was out there to be had. Maybe we'll get lucky and the Ducks will fire Bruce Boudreau in the offseason.

Lot's of teams with only one starter-level goalie have lost in the post season, including the Stanley cup - to include the Blues.

But I respect your point too.

Penguins have been hot lately. Shot up the standings. We'll see where they finish.

:clap:As long as they make the playoffs the Leafs will get their 1st rounder in the Kessel trade.

I'd prefer that they squeak in though.

This could be the first time in nhl history that no Canadian teams make the playoffs.

First time in 46 years.

And it's official...all Canadian teams are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs this season.

GloryDayz 03-29-2016 06:30 PM

OK, the Blues in Cardinal's jerseys sucks!

DaNewGuy 03-29-2016 07:17 PM

Leafs came out firing tonight. After the Cats win 2-3 games they always go into a slump

KCUnited 03-29-2016 07:25 PM

I'll give Andrew Shaw credit for being able to take a punch.
