Does anyone know if the back of the jerseys have the same blue color for the players' names?
To me, I've seen that around the NCAA and it looks pretty dumb. I would assume these have it too. |
Currently in bracketology has KU as the #1 overall seed.
Playing the winner of Davidson/Charleston Southern. Then if they were to win they'd play Pitt/VCU winner. Man, Davidson has a perimeter oriented team who could beat a team like KU. http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/bracketology |

Shaka is no dummy, and I’m not sure I want to bet our title hopes on whether or not he got lucky 2 years ago. Also, they made a good run last year, so they are a tournament-battled team. |

KU tied the 2010-2011 team for the second longest win streak under Self tonight (18). They'll need two more to tie the 2007-2008 team at 20 (vs. OSU and at TCU).
The home game vs. OK. State should be a tough one considering their elite defense and the way KU has played lately. |

I also think they should have black ones. Blue lettering/numbers w/ red trim. |

KU freshman Rio Adams bringing energy, on and off court
By Gary Bedore Photo by Nick Krug Kansas guard Rio Adams points to teammate Kevin Young after Young's breakaway dunk following a steal against Oklahoma during the first half on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at Allen Fieldhouse. At left is Oklahoma guard Cameron Clark. One of the most enthusiastic cheerleaders on Kansas University’s basketball bench, Rio Adams is attempting to take that same spirit onto the court during games. “I’m trying to be the best I can be ... for my teammates, keep that energy going,” said Adams, KU’s 6-foot-3 freshman combo guard from Seattle. He played two minutes in Monday’s 61-56 victory at West Virginia, three in Saturday’s 67-54 home win over Oklahoma and two minutes the game before that — a 59-55 win over Kansas State on Jan. 22 in Manhattan. “Giving my all is what I’m trying to do for my team when I’m out there. That’s what I’m doing,” said Adams, who was spotted on camera dancing on the KU bench after Jayhawk threes in both the OU and KSU games. Adams — he averaged 21.0 points, 6.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game his senior season at Class 3A state champion Rainier Beach High (he scored 54 points in a game as a sophomore) — obviously knows his role is not to be a prolific scorer on this year’s KU team. He’s scored 12 points all season off 5-of-17 shooting and 2-of-2 free throwing. “Right now I’m in position to give coach (Bill Self) what he needs. (Against Oklahoma) I was there specifically to play defense and keep our point spread spread out. We get a lot of wins because of our defense. That’s what we rely on first. Coach didn’t really care about the offense — just don’t turn it over. We are a defensive team for sure, first.” Adams was able to run the team on a couple possessions during the OU game. “I’m not going to lie. I wasn’t prepared for that at all,” Adams said of being point guard versus the Sooners. “Mainly in practice I play a lot of defense. When I was out there to get the opportunity I took full advantage of it, but just wasn’t ready. I enjoyed it a lot. I was very excited. I work for my minutes and earned those minutes I got.” Adams said he’s grateful for any time he gets during games. “When I do (get minutes) I’m going to take full advantage of them every time,” he said. “I appreciate coach getting more comfortable with me day to day. I’m working on being the best I can be. I’m just staying focused, working hard every day for coach. I’m trying to get my minutes that I deserve because I’m working.” Adams indicated there’s a big difference between high school and college basketball. “It’s a very difficult transition,” he said. “The guys are a lot more physical. It has to do with your focus and the effort you want to put in at times. They (coaches) watch that a lot. When I first got here, that wasn’t my focus at all. I wasn’t as focused as I should have been. My mind was somewhere else. Now I’m here and it’s the right time for me to catch my focus. I’m giving my all. Any time coach puts me out there when my number is called I will give my all.” Adams said it’s not difficult to be ready to enter games when called upon. “Thinking positive, letting stuff roll off my back,” he said are keys. “You are going to make mistakes. It’s basketball. I treat it like I did when growing up. I would say all the veterans help me. They let me know what I didn’t know when I first came here, to let it (criticism) roll off my back and keep playing hard.” Of Adams, KU coach Self said: “I think Rio could potentially be a good defender. He does some things on the ball that’s really good, not as good off the ball. He is young and figuring things out, also. I want him to be a guy we can play and trust and do all that stuff 10 minutes a game. The reality is and he knows this, I’ve got to get where I trust him, not to do what we don’t teach. He’ll get there.” Halfcourt mania: Kansas Athletics uploaded a video to YouTube which shows KU’s Naadir Tharpe and Ben McLemore hitting halfcourt shots at the end of a shootaround on Monday at WVU Coliseum in Morgantown, W.Va. Oh yes ... KU director of operations Doc Sadler also hit a halfcourt shot in the video. “It was definitely skill. It was not luck at all. For the right amount of money I could probably teach some of you how to do that,” Sadler joked to the audience at Tuesday’s weekly “Hawk Talk” radio show. “They’re not talking about the dunk that I had. That’s what everybody was more surprised about.” Seriously folks ... “I said, ‘Let me have one shot at it and I’ll show you how to do it,’” Sadler said, joking with Jayhawk players who had trouble converting from halfcourt. “It took me one shot. It didn’t take 20. Again ... the dunk nobody has seen was probably a bit more impressive.” Recruiting Wiggins: KU coach Self visited Huntington (W.Va.) Prep on Tuesday to check in on Andrew Wiggins, a 6-7 small forward, JayhawkSlant.com reported. Wiggins, who is the No. 1 rated player in the Class of 2013, lists KU, Kentucky, Florida State, North Carolina and others. KU is also pursuing the No. 2 player in the class, Julius Randle, 6-9 power forward from Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano, Texas. Future: KU coach Self on Tuesday discussed his future with ESPN’s Andy Katz. He was asked the question, “What would be your next move and who would you lean on for advice?” Self’s answer: “If we’re ever going to move again, which I certainly don’t see, want or anticipate because we love it here, I would lean on my dad and my wife. And then maybe some experts in the field. I haven’t looked at another situation seriously since I’ve been here. A lot was made of the Oklahoma State situation five years ago, but that was one that the timing was not right and I don’t see the timing being right any time in the near future.” About possibly coaching in the NBA, he said: “I don’t feel it. I can’t say never because there have been a lot of people tell me that it would be an unbelievable situation to get into, and coaches yearn for that, but I think I’ve got a better job than a lot of guys in the league.” All-star game: KU signee Joel Embiid, 7-foot center from The Rock School in Gainesville, Fla., has been invited to play in the Jordan Brand Classic on April 13 in New York, The Rock School announced on Twitter. |

damn right u do. |
In that bit in the interview Self sounds like he's happy here but knows he has KU by the balls and can get more money anytime he wants if he flirts with leaving. Of course he's not going to say he's staying here for sure. That wouldn't make sense to his bank account even though he's already making a lot of money.

Without Jeff we are a fringe top-20 team and that's hard to believe with Ben & Travis having such good seasons. |
I can't imagine how good this team would be if T-Rob was playing instead of Young.
I mean seriously as down of season this has been in mens college bball....I think KU would have a real shot at going undefeated. Def don't blame the guy for going pro, but if he didn't have the family issues, deaths etc, and with the way last season ended, he'd prob be in a KU uniform right now. LMAO |

I doubt Robinson would have stayed if he didn't have the family issues. At least in my opinion he would have been dumb to stay. He was a top 5 pick, you can't pass that up. As for Self and his comment on the NBA, I appreciate the fact that he didn't say never. I think that's what a lot of Jayhawks were mad at Roy for. At least if Bill is tempted to leave no one can point back and say, "but you said never!" |
Would the All-Roy Williams KU team beat the All-Bill Self KU team? Who'd win in a 7-game series? I'll bold the probable starters (some may disagree - but that makes for good discussion).
**Remember, this has nothing to do w/ their success or lack thereof in the NBA** Roy Vaughn Walters Boschee Miles Hinrich Pierce Thomas Langford Gregory Gooden Collison Simien LaFrentz Pollard Ostertag Self Chalmers Collins Taylor Selby R.Robinson Rush Henry McLemore Wright Arthur Mk.Morris Mc.Morris T.Robinson Aldrich Withey |
KU does have an advantage this year with our great defense and experience even with the crappy way we've been playing recently. CBB is watered down this year but KU is king of this watered down pool. There's no team that scares me or makes me think, "oh crap, we're done" like last year. You can think of it that we're that good or CBB is down lol.

Yeah, I didn't read too much into what Bill said. The landscape changes soooo much over time, it's not outside the realm of possibility that he may not want to be here anymore. I think the probability is that he will retire here, but nothing is set in stone forever. And yeah, I think that's why most most hawk fans were pissed when Roy bolted. If he'd have treated the whole thing with a little more professionalism it would have been taken better, but he had to turn on the water works and make a big deal about it and looked like an ass when he bolted. |

Good thing Kentucky's players all left, or Robinson's return wouldn't have even mattered.

And KU's up 2 games in the B12. Baylor played soft at home to OU and lost.

Duke just isn't very good without Kelly. If they don't have him back by the tournament, they are a big threat to lose in the first round (just like last year when they didn't have him). |

For anyone that's ever taken a stats course, the probabilities of running it are very minor. Even if you had a 90% chance each game, cumulatively it's only like 30% over 10 games. And we aren't 90% at Ames or Stillwater or Baylor. I'd out our chances at half that. Maybe 10-15%

Well, the month of February is going to be an important one for the Kansas coaching staff. A number of prospects are scheduled to visit, and it's only a matter of time before others pencil in a visit date.
Andrew Wiggins: 6-foot-7, 190-pound small forward School: Huntington (WV) Prep Rank: No. 1 Outlook: On Tuesday, Bill Self and Kurtis Townsend visited Huntington (WV) Prep to check in on Wiggins. Currently, the nation's top prospect has taken just one official visit (FSU), but plans to take in visits to Kansas, Kentucky and North Carolina. It's believed that Kentucky and Florida State are the teams to beat, but according to Wiggins and Rob Fulford, Huntington (WV) Prep head coach, that isn't the case. Fulford told me that Wiggins isn't the type of kid to string along a school or schools just for the attention. If he adds a school to his list, it's because he's seriously interested. Furthermore, Fulford told me that Wiggins will definitely visit Kansas at the end of his season. I know many of you have asked me if Kansas is a serious player for Wiggins, and according to Fulford, the answer is yes. Julius Randle: 6-foot-9, 240-pound power forward School: Prestonwood Christian Academy in Plano, Texas Rank: No. 2 Outlook: Reports the last few weeks seem to indicate Kansas is right at the top of Randle's list. Kansas has been recruiting the elite forward as long as any program on his list, and there's no doubt that Randle has an outstanding relationship with the coaching staff. If familiarity is important to Randle, he is certainly familiar with the Kansas program and the coaching staff. He's been on campus a number of times, and will return for his official visit during the weekend of ESPN College Gameday (2/16/13). I've maintained for a long time that Kansas is in outstanding position with Randle, and those thoughts haven't changed. Obviously, he is very fond of Coach Self, but also wants to compete at the highest level. He'd be able to do that at Kansas, while also playing relatively close to home. If you ask me, Kansas is in outstanding position when it comes to its recruitment of Julius Randle. Tyus Jones: 6-foot-1, 171-pound guard School: Apple Valley (MN) High School Rank: No. 3 in 2014 class. Outlook: There's simply no denying that Jones is about as good as it gets when it comes to prospects in the 2014 class. In fact, he's so good that Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ohio State and others have extended scholarship offers to the elite floor general. When I first exchanged text messages with Jones months ago, he indicated that he grew up a big Kansas fan. Now, Jones will make his way to Lawrence, Kan., the weekend of February 23 for a visit. I'm hoping to chat with Jones before he arrives on campus, but we recently exchanged a few text messages and he's fired up about the visit. All the heavy hitters are making a strong push for Jones, but growing up a Kansas fans can only help its chances with regards to the top floor general in the class. Ahmed Hill: 6-foot-4, 185-pound shooting guard School: Aquinas High School in Augusta, Ga. Rank: No. 25 in 2014 class Outlook: I exchanged a few text messages with Hill, the No. 25 ranked player in the class, this past spring and summer, but we then went several months without contact. However, late last week, Hill sent me a text message saying a member of the staff had been out to watch him, and he's planning to visit Kansas this season. Hill, with interest from Duke, Indiana, Kansas, North Carolina, and others, didn't hold back when talking about his interest in Kansas. During our conversation, Hill said he's very interested in Kansas and will be out for a visit this season. Joshua Perkins: 6-foot-2, 175-pound point guard School: Regis Jesuit in Aurora, Colo. Rank: No. 42 in 2014 class Outlook: Perkins has never publicly stated that Kansas is his leader, but if you ask me, I get the feeling that Kansas is currently the team to beat. A week or so ago, Coach Self stopped by Regis Jesuit to watch a game, and shortly thereafter, Perkins narrowed his list of schools. During an interview with Jayhawk Slant, Randy Perkins, the father of Josh Perkins, had nothing but glowing things to say about Self and the University of Kansas. It was at that time that Mr. Perkins indicated that he was in the process of figuring out the best date to visit Kansas. Again, I've never been told that Kansas is the leader for Perkins, but it's just a feeling I have at this time. Shay Wildeboor Senior Writer JayhawkSlant.com |
