Let’s talk about the Bengals (AFC Championship Rd)

This game truly is massive for Mahomes and the Chiefs. He has both a lot to lose and a lot to gain. Lose and he becomes Manning to Brady with regards to head to head. Win and he cements himself and the team as the AFC dynasty with one small hiccup last season and potential NFL dynasty. Lose and you are sitting at 2-3 in AFC championship 0-2 vs Bengals and the team becomes second best franchise moving forward in AFC overnight. A lot riding on this. Burrow really has no pressure here.

Burrow hasn’t won a ring yet so he’s got tons of pressure

I think he will be like Elway, lose a couple SBs and then win a couple down the road.

I do believe the Bengals are due for a huge let down. They’ve been riding quite lucky lately with key turnovers in their favor at critical times. Burrow is due for some bad INTs of his own. And I think they have basically no chance of playing as good as they did last game. I’m thinking double digit Chiefs victory.

The blueprint to beat Cincy is pretty simple and is provided by the Cleveland Browns.

They beat Cincy 3 of their 4 games the past two years, including two blowout wins.

Cleveland bludgeoned Cincy with their running game and sacked Burrow multiple times without having to blitz.

I want to see the Bengals when they are paying Burrow & Chase $85-90M per year combined and selecting talent at the bottom of the draft every year. They still have a few years before it becomes a serious issue though.

I don’t think so. He’s got cincy in the palm of his hand. Bengals have a few years before the roster and cap are challenged. There’s no desperation to win now. I’m sure burrow isn’t looking past us but it feels like the rest of the bengals are.

Can we trade Mike Danna for Myles Garrett this week?

A lot of shit is going to get dicey. He needs an elite OL. Him, chase and the OL will take up an entire payroll

No way Lou Anuramu will be there much longer. I’m shocked he’s not getting interviewed left and right even now.

They don’t have top 5 picks which is wheee so much of their cheap talent is coming from after sucking for decades.

Really hard to imagine they’ll keep Higgins. Most likely no Boyd either.

And how good will Zac Taylor be without this absurd abundance of riches.

And will this notoriously cheap franchise pony up? I’m guessing not.

But they have a few years before reality really sets in. Burrow probably gets paid this offseason. But they still have tons of wiggle room.

I don’t disagree with your overall point, however:

A. Which Manning? Peyton was 3-2 career in the playoffs vs Brady. Eli? 2-0 in the SB but that’s a different animal which leads me to…..

B. Burrow would have to win the SB. If he loses back to back SBs people can say whatever they want about him vs Mahomes, he’d be halfway to Bills SB loses territory

Higgins has to be a goner. He will want over $25M per year, maybe even $30M per year. That’s the receiver market now thanks to guys like Hopkins, Adams, & Tyreek driving the market lately. Chase will want over $30M, possibly even $40M.

What happens to the defense? The defense has been a massive part of their success despite the lazy media pretending it’s all Burrow. They paid pretty good money for guys like Hendrickson & Reader. Filling out the defensive roster gets a lot more difficult if Burrow & Chase are given record-breaking contracts.

If the Chiefs close as the favorites against the Bengals, it will be the 15th consecutive playoff game that Kansas City has been favored, which is the longest such streak in the Super Bowl era.
We are blessed.
