Yeah, I actually forgot all about Spencer until you grabbed him. Really nice pick.

Hmmm... ok, wasn't sure what we were doing with the time.

Truebigdog and I were working on a trade, I sent one final note on a possible tweak and was waiting for his confirmation.

Mile High Mania 07-18-2009 08:16 AM

Ok, screw it.. I was countering, but I'll take this trade that Truebigdog and I were working.

MML receives his R21.6 and R33.13 for my R21.14 and my R28 (keep in mind that Cobras and I flipped picks in R28, so Scorpions now hold Cobras pick)

MML will select... Jerious Norwood, KR/RB. I'm digging this pick, dual role player and will get more action at RB this year as well. Nice threat.

Team 3B selects Mark Clayton, WR, and Chinedum Ndukwe, SS.

Clayton won't need to shoulder the load for 3B like he will for the Ravens, but we should get to see what he's made of this year.

"Ndukwe" is synonymous with "ridonkulous potential." Look it up, nerd.

It may seem crazy to make the trade primarily for a KR, but the guy is a nice one to have for RB depth as well... great production last year behind Turner and word is that they are giving him a few more carries this year to keep Turner from wearing down.

If you can get a KR that also is key at another position, that is huge... there's only a few and not many at all are left... so that is why I made the move and gave up more than I cared to give by moving from R28 to R33.

I saw my target and made the move... plus, now with Hillis at FB and Norwood at KR, I have two young and versatile options should something happen to Jacobs or Smith.

Ultra Peanut 07-18-2009 08:26 AM

I like Norwood a lot, for what it's worth.

Team 3B Receiving corps
Larry Fitzgerald - 25, 6'3", 1,431 yds 12 TDs
Vincent Jackson - 26, 6'5", 1,098 yds 7 TDs
Mark Clayton - 27, 5'10", 695 yds 3 TDs

The secondary of Finnegan (25), McGee (28), Collins (25), and Ndukwe (24) is also stupid young and promising, with two 2008 All-Pros.

Yeah, which is why I said "screw the counter offer" when I realized the timer expired on his pick.

I like your WRs...

MML Receiving Corps

Anquan Boldin - 28, 6'1 / 89 - 1038 yds - 11 TD
TJ Houshmandzedah - 31, 6'2 / 92 - 904 yds - 4 TDs
Roy Williams - 27, 6'3 / 36 - 430 - 2

TJ and Roy both had down years, esp TJ on the yds and TD... Roy is no longer playing 2nd to TO, so we'll see what he can do as the #1 in Dallas. As a #1 in DET, he was hit and miss... I think he has great upside as the #1 in Dallas. TJ is also the man now in SEA.... should have a fine season.

If these 3 do what they can do... I'll take this trio against most. TJ is 31, but he still has a strong 3 years in him.

Love the Norwood pick though

No biggie... I was trying to get a better pick out of you, so the situation worked well for you... I saw that the timer was up, feared my target getting snagged.

:doh!: That has to be tough, during that time I've had 6 selections... but I don't have picks in R27 or R28, so later on I'll understand what that feels like, but I'll have 32 players by then and won't care.

The Choo-Choos will add some depth at DL with a guy who is coming off an injury, but looks to be back 100% and can be a beast in the middle. Has been a fixture in the middle of the Ravens D for several years, and will rotate nicely with Adam Carriker and Ty Warren to form a nice middle of the defensive line. The Choo-Choos select Kelly Gregg, DT.

Heh ... that would be cool, but I doubt it.

chiefscafan 07-19-2009 12:18 PM

Hmm so I guess we have a stoppage in picking for a while.

darosa88 07-19-2009 12:20 PM

Yeah so the trade between Boise and Cleveland was:

Cleveland gets Boise's 2 rookie 5ths (Bowser's and Kyle Delexus's), Boise's own rookie 4th, and Boise's vet 31st (which is actually KC King's at #18).

Boise gets Cleveland's vet 21st and Cleveland's vet 27th.

darosa88 07-19-2009 12:23 PM

So with that 21st round pick, and with a huge run on DT's Boise sees one DT that slipped through the folds (unsure how he could "slip" through anywhere at 320 lbs.)

Boise selects NT Pat Williams - MIN

He will ease some of the burden in the middle for Kris Jenkins.

Mile High Mania 07-19-2009 12:25 PM

Add in that he's 37 in October and I think you'll figure out why he was still there. Of course, some of us are more into youth than others.

I think they're giving them away with purchases of Pampers...

Mile High Mania 07-19-2009 01:50 PM

Fasano was an interesting pick... there's a few others I think I like better, but it's interesting.

Oh yeah, I'm always interested in moving up... holla.

Reaper16 07-19-2009 01:55 PM

Royals 2008 first round pick Eric Hosmer was just promoted from Low-A Burlington to High-A Wilmington, leaving the Bees with only pitchers Tim Melville and Mike Montgomery as highly-regarded prospects. The Burlington community needs the pick me up that the Alternate Reality National Football League will give it.

In light of this, a number of businesses from Burlington, Iowa are prepared to provide sponsorship money. Unless, of course, Team 3B plays in a different Burlington.

****BREAKING NEWS****

The league office has been notified of a team name change. Due to local financing issues in regards to their stadium, the ownership team of the Memphis Malt Liquor has been forced to work an agreement with a new town.

Team officials were upset initially with the move, but believe they have found the perfect new home. Going forward, the team will no longer be known as the Memphis Malt Liquor. Instead, they shall be called...

The Crested Butte-Holes

Yes, the team is moving to Crested Butte, CO and looking forward to winning many championships.

Two hours to my pick!

MHM, does this mean you're going to stay in the league? I've been on vacation (partly in Crested Butte, ironically), but I saw your earlier post about not interfering with fantasy football. I think this is the perfect offseason activity as it takes no time at all during the season. It'd be cool if you remained an owner.

And an emergency fourth quarterback. Don't forget that.

Am I okay to make my pick? The Commodes have already picked, even though it was in error, so it seems that I can run up to the podium.

I think you should pick. I sent jwazzie a PM about his pick being already taken a while back.

Let's see it...

Bess was one of about 4 guys I was considering for my next pick. I like it a lot.

Whew. I did a lot of research, and I'm reading that even if he's not a starter, he should be a slot receiver for them, and he also returns punts. My thinking is he can be a good young addition to my veteran receiving corps.

Burger's online, so hopefully he'll see this thread and make his pick.

Actually it looks like he posted a message right before your pick and then deleted it.

Rainman great pick bess is quality

I personally needed a 5 tech DE and Trevor pryce has been reborn since leaving Denver.
Plus he's famillar with playing with Suggs :). Pass rush looking pretty dangerous at least more than the chiefs pass rush lol.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I ****ing took Pat Williams over Davone Bess because everyone took DT's for 5 straight picks. Bess was going to be my pick and I assumed I could get him in round 22, he was my sleeper starting WR that I had personally researched (and followed his career at Hawaii 2 years prior)

darosa88 07-19-2009 09:22 PM

but as far as pat williams fitting in the 3-4 defense. He stuffs runs. period. That's all I need him to do. And at age 36, he's just here to give Kris Jenkins a rest for a few downs every so often.

I am happy with pat williams, I think its a good value, even if he retires in 2 years. I'm just pissed about losing Davone Bess.

Rain Man 07-19-2009 09:26 PM

Well, I wouldn't have taken Bess if Pat Williams had been there.

(Heh-heh. Just kidding.)

Rain Man 07-19-2009 09:27 PM

I like the Pat Williams pick for your team, by the way. Great fit.

darosa88 07-19-2009 09:31 PM

thanks but that's not funny. you already have like 4 wide receivers...lol

chiefscafan 07-19-2009 09:31 PM

I like pat Williams it's a good pick it's hard to know who to take now and who u think will be there at your next pick. I've got three guys I'm looking at but I don't know where to pick them at.

darosa88 07-19-2009 09:34 PM

yeah you never know what everyone else is thinking... I have the same issue every pick, its just deciding who you think won't last and who you think will be there next round.

Rain Man 07-19-2009 09:42 PM

Yeah, I didn't mind-read very well early on, when everybody was taking receivers left and right. They were going faster than quarterbacks and I kept thinking it'd slow down.

chiefscafan 07-19-2009 10:40 PM

No one on?
