I'll probably get flamed for this, but i'll put it out there.

I like Geno alot as a prospect, I also like Wilson and Bray alot as prospects.

But whoever we draft, there is going to have to be a good coaching staff and support system in place for them to succeed.

I don't think anybody will flame you for that.

It seems like common sense really.

It wouldn't matter anyway. Fist fights are for old pussies.

I satisfy my honor the way real men do it. I challenge them to a duel. Pistols at dawn.

there's nothing wrong with liking other QBs

i'm fine with smith, wilson, and barkley (even though I'm worried about his upside)...Bray seems like a big risk

but Smith is a cut above them all, for me...passing on him will kill me (only the 392837457434th time the chiefs would have killed a fan)

i'm just not down with drafting the 4th best QB in order to pick a ****ing LB at #1

Coogs 12-18-2012 01:01 PM

No worse than I will get flamed for this...

We don't just need a QB on offense. We need to give him some weapons to succeed. I'd be spending the next 3 to 4 picks on WR's, and a TE. When McCluster is the best we can throw on the field... that position needs a lot of help. I'd resign Bowe and then draft speed WR's. A couple three of them and cut the losses with Baldwin and the likes.

And if the QB fails after 3 or 4 years... I'd draft another one early.

Well, probably so. But just stating that, simply drafting one of these guys isn't going to magically change it.

The player is a huge part of the equation, but coaching staff and surrounding support system are a good chunk too.

I agree with pretty much everything in this post.

nothing to argue with there...

our second round pick for sure, at least, should be the best offensive weapon available for our rookie QB

Hammock Parties 12-18-2012 01:05 PM

Bowe and Breaston are fine as starters. We do need to bring in a slot guy because DMC doesn't cut it and it should be obvious now.

All in favor of grabbing another TE because you just never know with Brokeaki.

After QB I'd like to see these positions addressed:

WR
DL
CB
S
TE

As needed, based on value available.

O.city 12-18-2012 01:06 PM

Thats pretty much where I am.

I don't want the 4th best QB so we can have another defensive player because the "value" isn't there.

I want the absolute top rated QB in the class, and I want this franchise to go all in on him. I'm talking Burt Reynolds spreads at every entrance and on every season ticket.

The guy needs to be groomed from day one and told "you will be the face of this franchise for the next decade".

Yep, we're so concerned about the #1 overall, we sometimes forget that we also get the 33rd overall as well. That should get us a damn good WR.

htismaqe 12-18-2012 01:08 PM

I for one will continue advocating for a pass-catching TE until we actually go and get one.

A good TE is a young QBs BEST friend.

If we're going to take a WR, I'd take Tavon Austin - he's essentially a poor man's Percy Harvin or a rich man's Dexter McCluster. Guys like that help a young QB immensely too because you can dump the ball to them in space and they can do things with it.

We extend Bowe and draft BPA thereafter. This is a deep draft on the defense side, imo and we need to cash in on that. Corners and pass rushers will be available in the second that have first round grades.

Luck went through growing pains this year, douchebag.

He grew right out of them, and will continue to improve the next couple years. He'll be jaw-dropping amazing when he hits his prime.

But he still went through growing pains.

Geno will go through growing pains.

I wouldn't mind grabbing another TE, Jordan Reed from Florida late to middle is someone we should look at.

WR, we need some speed.

S, I'm gonna throw some money at Byrd from Buffalo, he's a stud at FS. Berry at SS and Byrd at FS is pretty studly.

CB should be a fairly big need, and I'd actually like to see us maybe flip a pick too the Eagles for DRC.

And at DL, I'd seriously hope the Faid release Seymour like they are rumored to be contemplating.
