Yeah, I’m sure Self makes the difference in this one. We’ve seen so many great coaching decisions from him that have really changed games and frustrated opponents. Remember the triangle and 2 against UNC in 2012?

My hope for this tournament was that Self would be back for the second round to give us a strategical and emotional lift. We don’t lose in the first game of the weekend very often, so I think we would’ve gotten to at least the Elite 8. From there, who knows?

Sucks, but what can you do. Chiefs wouldn’t be the same without Reid either.

I think Self will hit the portal hard though. He’s proven to find key contributors consistently. Just since 2017, he’s grabbed transfers like Malik Newman, the Lawsons, Isaih Moss, Remy Martin, JCL, and Kevin McCullar.

I have full confidence that Self will grab a couple guys to give us some shooting and round out the roster. We’ll be right back here again.

I still think it’s a fouling 50/50 shitfest either way (which we have long had problems with, as many other teams do) but Self is so good historically at winning close games (I think he has some crazy stat in that regard) that he may have found a way here. Still not gonna blame Norm though for what this game became.
