Ok...so his ceiling is Alex Smith. I'd rather have Alex Smith now, than a guy who we'll have to wait to develop into Alex Smith.

Morton was a 800 yard receiver the previous year.
Brandon Loyd had 700.
Arnaz Batt was a rookie, but had 1300 yards and 8tds the next two years combined.

Add those to Frank Gore and Kevin Barlow at running back and tell me again how terrible of a situation Alex was in and how good of a situation Geno is in.

BTW, if you look back before the season, NY was looked at as one of the worst teams in the NFL. They were expected to be a team drafting in the top five in the next draft. They are as talent depraved as any team in the NFL.
