Preseason is good for watching individual talent and players, but not watching the entire defense or offense in any given situation. The score doesn't matter at all either.

You can't even look at the first team and get any idea of how good or how bad they might be.

You might like to see all of this stuff but it still doesn't tell you a damned thing about what is going to happen in the regular season. Nothing.

Exactly. I get excited to watch the preseason games because I am so ready to watch some football. But you still have to temper that enthusiasm (or negativity) because it is just preseason. And teams don't play like they do in the regular season for the reasons you stated.

For that one example Dane gave of the 2004 Chiefs, one could probably come up with several others proving the opposite. Preseason simply is not the same thing as regular season. And it really is hard to glean much from it.

Like the Lions being 4-0 in preseason last year, the Chargers of 1998 were unbeaten in preseason, as well. Ryan Leaf looked like he was going to be an NFL superstar. We all saw how that turned out when the Chiefs really put the heat on him.

If we play crappy tomorrow night against the Texans... I'm guessing full melt down from over half of the posters here.

He was a college safety that got converted to corner I could have just heard that one.

Pundits were laughing their butts off when Al Davis was stupid enough to "waste" a 1st-round pick on Asomugha. Now we'd suck even worse if he weren't there to spook QBs from throwing to his side. Last night, Romo's 1st series went 3 & out when Asomugha was in. The Oakland pulled the guy for Romo's 2nd series & he just kept throwing to where Asomugha used to be.... TD Cowboys. Big Al had no choice but to pay him Big Money to stay in Oakland.

Here is a better prediction:

If the Chiefs play like crap - Dane and Mecca say "see I told you so".

If the Chiefs play well - Dane and Mecca say, "it's only preseason, doesn't matter" Or they find a player or two who looked bad and spend all their time bitching about them instead of commenting on who looked good.

:)

Speaking of MU receivers, anyone see Maclin's 165 all-purpose yards last night? He also would have had a TD if not for pass interference.

Look, the Raiders aren't going to go to the Superbowl but they are gonna kick the living shit out of the Chiefs

You heard it here first...

What's Dennis Byrd doing these days? I heard he bought some land over around Delaware, Oklahoma.

Yeah, I'm sure they are.

If you take anything out of the Faiders preseason performance you are going to be sadly dissapointed once the season starts.
