There's no guaranteed money left on his deal and the signing bonuses all appear to have converted. So he'll carry cap hits of $17.75, $22.9 and $23.25 million over the next 3 years with the Chargers looking at zero risk as they can cut him with no harm done.
The one issue I could see with the contract is that the base salaries are already pretty high so they can't really wiggle out of much there absent turning it into bonus that will then start to make things difficult to move on from him if they chose to. Then again, if it knocks his year 1 hit down, it makes rollover that forward pays it anyway.
Similar to the Ben Grubbs extension when we traded for him. We immediately extended him and pushed some salary into bonus, but his year 1 cap got so low it created a lot of rollover that essentially covered the dead money when we ended up releasing him when it turned out he was a broke-dick.
