Looking at the question again it says "Favorite" and not "Most Influential" or "Most Significan" or anything like that.

So my crying is moot...

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court is one of my favorite early SF books.

And I read as much Twain as anybody else in high school. I thought last year I'd try to refresh my memory, see what it said to me as an adult. But, as I said earlier, I couldn't get into it. That's not all that unusual; I'm having the same trouble right now finishing a novel called The Sword of the Lictor. Sometims I go through phases where I just don't have the patience to read more serious literature, so I'll back away and read something lighter. Saying I couldn't get through it was a statement about me, not about it. Eventually I'll give it another go, when the time seems right.

Come to think of it, it probably doesn't help that I started reading it at the same time the last Dark Tower book came out. I have a hard time concentrating on anything else when I get my hands on a new book. Now that I'm finished with Harry Potter and don't have anything new on the docket until the Knife of Dreams in October, maybe now's a better time.

Boys, boys, boys.... :shake:

Can't we all just get along? OPinions are like azzholes. Everyone's got one. If they don't, then they are full of $hit. If you don't like someone's opinion, just keep moving until you find one you agree with.

No, actually it was pretty good, and it had the ring of accuracy to back it up...

Yeah, but my heart just wasn't in it. No real "oomph" if you know what I mean. Felt flat and uninspired.

I used to be so much better at this when I could stay pissed off for more than three seconds. Oh, but there I go again, about to start moaning about the divorce.

KChiefs1 07-17-2005 03:17 PM

I'd love to see the Chiefs beat the Cowboys in Oklahoma!

Heh, better you than me, I guess. I gave up bitching (but I used to bitch--Hypocrite, I am!) about the ex on this board some time ago. It just doesn't do me or anyone else any earthly good, so far as I can tell.

All I do now is breathe in, breathe out....let it all go...

...and hope that c*nt slides under a gas truck and tastes her own blood before she dies...

Chiefs are the top team in 3 states. Booyah!
