Now that I think about it, I know some people have DVR software on their PC, maybe it would be possible to stream that file? (illegal I'm sure but possible? Who knows)

My DVR is a computer with wireless high speed access I'll share if someone can tell me how...

Yeah, I think if you guys do a "re-broadcasting" of this game... you don't want it afflilliated with this site.

chiefsfan58 10-20-2005 05:03 PM

eh, this stuff is all really simple to set up... you can stream using a variety of apps on CNET, here's an example of one:

http://www.download.com/PYSoft-Broad...?tag=pdp_prod_

All you need is some sort of AV input (tuner card, webcam, s-video in, etc.) and a shitton of bandwidth. These applications typically allow the setting of bandwidth limits per user (ie 20 kb/sec), and also allow you to specify quality/size of the video stream.

I have a shitton of bandwidth in my dorm... so if I'm lucky enough to happen to get the game up here in Boston, I'll get it up and running as soon as it's on. So basically, if you guys want the game, you need to find someone with a ton of upstream bandwidth and a video/audio source that can connect to the PC. And of course this is blatant copyright violation regardless of whether or not compensation is provided for the service. But I don't think anybody here gives a ****. =p

OK, I've got my satellite (with Topeka CBS) hooked up to my PC with video in. The only thing I can think of is to stream it out via an instant messenger program of some sort. If anybody has a better idea, or if you'd like to help me try this out, contact me via MSN Messenger - [email protected] before 7pm CDT.

I'll try chiefsfan's program. We'll see what happens.

BTW, don't get your hopes up. I've only got 384 kbps of upload space (that's bits, not bytes), so I probably won't be able to do this for more than a couple people.

I haven't tried those specific apps, but you can give a few of them a shot. Here's another that may work well:

If you're behind a firewall, make sure you forward the ports it's using to your machine. If you don't want to deal with all that, unplug your router and connect directly to the internet. =p

Yep, I don't know how many times I heard ole Dandy Don Merideth say, "This telecast is intended for the private use of our audience. Any other use of this broadcast without the Expressed WRITTEN consent of the NFL is prohibited."

They say it at the end of every game.

Mr. Kotter 10-20-2005 05:34 PM

You know, the more I think about this.....how fugged up would that be:

"NFL Sues Fans for 'WebCam' of Game They Refused to Broadcast"

What a fuggin' headline that would be for them to live down....

I hate to bury such a cool toy at the bottom of such a long thread, but it seems quite related.

Hahah, $250.00 is a bit too steep for a piece of hardware that could be replaced by software written in a few days (or downloaded for free). =p

Let's keep CP on the air. In case this doesn't work out. NFL decides to play hardball.

Maybe you can convince Rhonda Moss to write that headline as long as you promise a private webcast of your "Jerod" to her.
