Say the cap is $30. Every year you keep a player their price doubles. 1st year everyone is 1$, 2nd year $2, 3rd year $4, etc. That way you can keep players for years but, say, you can't lock up someone like Manning or LJ or Tomlinson for a decade without sacrificing other spots.
We also had a rule where the last 2 teams could use their 1st round pick the next year to steal any player from any team, but they also had to keep that same cap number.

We have a 10 team, 2 keeper league that does something fairly similar. This year we will have our first year of RFA, which is gonna add a neat twist. Basically you have contracts on your keeper for two years, after that he becomes an RFA. Everyone else gets to bid on the player, and at the end, if you want to match the price you can.
10 keepers for this leauge is gonna be a lot. Should make other drafts shorter. |
