It's past the deadline to lift the blackout. Did fans or Channel 5 step up so we can see the game locally?
|
That's the first deadline. Under rule changes adopted 3-4 years ago, if the Jags can't sell their tix & returns them, the game gets blacked out.
|
If it was blackedout, does it affect just the immediate local KC area or does it reach Topeka, Emporia, Wichita?

BTW I watched ch. 5 news last night & they indicated they're showing the game. |
I could be wrong, but I think that the term "sold out" has a slightly looser definition when it comes to blackouts. Something like, 98% sold or more = "sold out". I'm not entirely sure how it works, but I know that games were shown last year while tickets were still available right before the game.

Ch.5 would buy out the rest of the tickets if it hadn't sold out by today...

The Kansas City Chiefs-Jacksonville Jaguars game at noon Sunday will be shown locally on KCTV Channel 5, according to Bob Moore, the team’s director of public relations. Slow ticket sales raised concerns that the game would be blacked out, but the Chiefs are close enough to a sellout that it will be televised. It would have been the first local TV blackout since 1990. However, there are still tickets available." |
