It's past the deadline to lift the blackout. Did fans or Channel 5 step up so we can see the game locally?

chiefqueen 10-04-2007 11:23 AM

That's the first deadline. Under rule changes adopted 3-4 years ago, if the Jags can't sell their tix & returns them, the game gets blacked out.

If it was blackedout, does it affect just the immediate local KC area or does it reach Topeka, Emporia, Wichita?

Emporia & Wichita would see the game, Topeka would not b/c the signal could be picked up within the blackout radius (75 miles of Arrowhead - I think).

BTW I watched ch. 5 news last night & they indicated they're showing the game.

I could be wrong, but I think that the term "sold out" has a slightly looser definition when it comes to blackouts. Something like, 98% sold or more = "sold out". I'm not entirely sure how it works, but I know that games were shown last year while tickets were still available right before the game.

Sure-Oz 10-04-2007 11:56 AM

Ch.5 would buy out the rest of the tickets if it hadn't sold out by today...

chiefqueen 10-04-2007 11:57 AM

The game will be shown in KC:

It would have been the first local TV blackout since 1990.

However, there are still tickets available."

I always thought it was 50 miles but looked it up and it was 75 so I went to yahoo maps and I'm 66.8 miles from the stadium :(

Upper Reserve seats are going for $35.

But where is the TV station located? I'm sure that's what it's based on.

Don't have a clue,oh well if I get a blackout this year I'll just use my Sirius home unit for KC and watch the other games on tv.
