I'm not opposed to staff changes, but I'm not about to badger this defense.

Not when they've kept us in games all year while the offense did Jack Shit.

Well...according to NFL.com....in 2005, the chiefs led the league in scoring....and our TOP for the year was 32:09.

Another Hermosophy thrown out the window by logic and reason.

You score more points than the other team, you usually win the game.

And to comment on Gun....he (along with EVERYONE) should be fired. He has too much talent to continue to produce horrible results (especially against the run). Quite honestly, I think he's too predictable (and hence, why a good coach such as Shanahan...eats him up more times than not).

I said pretty much the same thing when Robinson was the DC....how many times/years can it continue to be about the talent and not about the coaching? I mean, these guys are NFL players right? If they're good enough to be drafted, etc....they should be at least efficient and get better from year to year, right?

Thing is....either side of the coin is the staff's fault. If gunther is putting people in position to make plays and stop the opponent....he's lost his value and should be fired....if it IS about the players...and they're not talented enough...then Gunther should be fired for continuing to make poor player personnel decisions.

Long story short...clark...pull the plug on this entire staff.

I think someone else pointed out earlier, so I'll reiterate:

Green Bay game
Both Denver games
Oakland game

Same could be said for the SD game (looked great in 1st half....looked terrible in the 2nd half).

Yes, it's obvious that the defense feels like it's an uphill battle when in the back of their minds, they know the offense isnt going to do crap even if they make the stop.

I agree, it is probably the only way to salvage the talent this team already has.

Clark Hunt needs to appologize openly to all the fans of Kansas City for the horrible product that he has allowed to be passed off as football this year. With that said, he should then like to begin again with a clean slate and rebuild this proud franchise into a super bowl contender.

As a necessary first step, Carl Peterson will no longer be with the team. The New GM, will have the right to bring in his own coaches to completely overhaul this Franchise. You the fans, deserve nothing less than a franchise that is fully capable of contending for a Super Bowl on a consistent basis and, as Owner of the Chiefs, it is my responsibility to deliver that to you.

That would be nice to hear.

The rest should be traded for picks, we need to completely rebuild the team from scratch with absolutely no ties to any of the underperformances of the past. Complete new identity. We are talking 2 more years before we sniff the playoffs.

ridiculous. So a defense has to play perfect through the whole season or they suck and the coordinator should be fired? Even when they keep opposing teams under 20 for most of the season?

As for picking out games, EVERY SINGLE EXAMPLE YOU LISTED HAD OUR O THROWING INTS IN THE RED ZONE.

Did it look to anyone else like Shannahan was smiling yesterday? I thought he was enjoying himself way to much.

we had a lead against Green Bay...and somehow bit on a play action pass with less than 3 or 4 minutes left in the game? How does that even happen?

Why do we continue to let no-name running backs eat us alive (Oakland, denver)?

I'm not saying a defense has to play perfect - but this defense has let us down far more times this year than it seems you want to admit to.

I respect your opinion, but I'm just politely disagreeing.

Combine that with the fact that I'm already biased towards the whole organization being fired...and you'll see where I'm coming from.

But here's the deal....I want a house cleaning because I no longer want any coach, GM, etc. who sits around arrowhead's offices thinking back to the so-called glory days of the 90's (when we didnt really accomplish a damn thing).

I want a GM/coach/players who dont accept that as "glory days" (such as jerry jones or bill bellichek, etc.). We have too many people thinking way too much of their "accomplishments" in the 90's.

It's time for a new attitude.

I am dreading the part where they have to "learn how to win." I think it will be at least two more years before they approach mediocrity again.

Honestly, if we had a head coach who was smarter than a box of rocks, I could have some faith.

HemiEd 12-10-2007 01:24 PM

Well, I just checked, and the defense has dropped out of "top 10" in both catagories now. 13th in points allowed and 15th in yards allowed. The offense is holding it's own at 30th and 31st.

Go Gunther!!!!

Interesting factoids:

1. KC's rush defense is worse, in terms of yards per carry, right now than it was in Vermeil's last year.

2. If KC gives up an average of 18 points or more during its final 3 games, it will have given up more points than Vermeil's defense did in 2005.

That is really going to leave a mark on a few posters around here.
