I've always been self employed and rarely had help until the satellite business. But nobody gets fired. We are all contractors so when you need rid of someone they just "run out of work". The result is the same but it spares hard feelings.

I once had to fire an employee who I hung out with, played golf with on a pretty regular basis. It was definitely performance related. I had transfered him to a new position within our company at his request, and he simply couldn't handle the new responsibilities. I had already filled his old position so I had nothing for him to fall back on. Needless to say we no longer have the weekend golf game going. To this day I'm very careful about socializing with employees outside the workplace.

37.5...the .5 part was the fucked up one. I've never been fired, though I should have been every time...not sure if that's the beauty part or the fucked part...probally the latter.
God Bless America. |
How many people have you fired
Hog Farmer, I believe that if I was hired by you, I'd be looking for another job as soon as I found out exactly what you did for a living. You wouldn't need to fire me. No offense or anything, I mean spanking my own monkey is fine, but I draw the line at farm animals.

I've fired a few. I haven't kept track.
Once upon a time I fired the owner of the company. You may recall the situation. I've been fired twice. Once as a kid. Once as an adult. |
After having a much better paying job & only working part time at Godfathers pizza I told them I was going to quit after my shift. I got fired anyways and did not work the two hours scheduled. That was years ago and I have moved on to better jobs.
I've been in route sales and delivery for 11 years and going on seven with this uniform company. I've been the lead RSR for most of that time and even won a trip to Cobo San-Lucas last year (My Super Bowl). Everythings been going great but we've gone through some changes within the Co and some really stupid pollicies to deal with. My sales have slipt this year but I know that I can get something going sooner or later no big deal right? We got bought out by a bigger Co and apparently it doesn't matter what youve done for the company in the past they always expect more and add more for us to do but the kicker is not get more $$ to do it. So basically I'm either going to have to bust my ass even more than I do already or find a new job. I have nothing to prove to them cus I've done everything possiable & I'm ready to move on and find something else. Anyways must be nice to hold a job with out actually having to make numbers or "win" a playoff game for 14 years. :harumph: |
I have fired around 15-20 guys when I was running a cable crew. I gave all of them plenty of warning. I even had to fire a guy who was a good friend once. He was consistently 30 minutes or more late to work. Fortunately, he knew that the decision was business and not personal, so it did not affect our friendship.

Only been fired once. I was about 19. Worked in a Tomato packing shed stacking 30 lb boxes of Tomatoes for 12-16 hours a day with no ****ing let up of boxes lol. Friends dad ran the plant and he was my ride. The warehouse was kinda far from where i live, so since my friends dad worked there he thought he could slack. Well after a while he fired us both. lol I was never so happy to be fired. I hated that job. I only kept it becuase he got it for me.
