Some are just so jaded, that they think just because we are KU, he'll stay. BFD, KU has been a successful program, but FAR fram elite. In fact, until this year, it could be argued that OSU had MORE RECENT success than KU in recent years. How exactly does that make KU elite? It doesn't.

Well, if you really don't think KU is one of the top 3 jobs in NCAA basketball, there's really no point in arguing with you, because you are disconnected from reality.

In theory it is, but before last night, what exactly has KU's basketball program done in the past 20 years, that makes everyone think they are elite?

Just because you have a storied tradition, doesn't make you elite. Winning meaningful games makes you elite, besides last night, where are all these national championships that elite teams have? Hell, how about final 4 visits? See, they're aren't too many of them, thus negating any eliteness, that so many Jayhawks wish to believe is the case. Sorry, but I don't buy the hype.

Kansas now has....5 National Championships, 13 Final Fours, 37 NCAA bids, 51 Conference Championships, and 36 20-win seasons.

What are OSU's numbers? Honestly, I'm asking.

They've been to the final four 13 times. I guess if that's "not too many" you're right. Champs 3 times, runner up 5 times. I just realized I'm arguing with a reeruned person. See ya.

Six Final Four appearances in 21 years, and Four Championship game appearances--including 2 Championships???

OSU has TWO national championships. I have no idea, how many appearances they've made. Again, I'm just pointing out that KU isn't head and shoulders better than KU, especially when you can get MORE MONEY at the place you call home. I'm just think some let the KU bling blind them, to what is reality. Jayhawk fans prefer perception over reality. Their perception is that KU is in the final 4 every year.

Phobia 04-08-2008 09:51 AM

BigChiefFan - you're an alright dude and you're generally pretty reasonable.

I'm not a KU fan but you're off. It's an elite program.

However, I would be surprised if Self is at KU next year.

Brock 04-08-2008 09:52 AM

Ignoring facts doesn't make them not facts. Ignoring the fact that you're getting bitch-slapped in an argument doesn't mean you aren't getting bitch-slapped.

Just plain old country dumb.

BigChiefFan 04-08-2008 09:54 AM

I stand corrected-KU is THE ONLY job a coach should consider to make a name for himself. KU is the best-they should just change the name to the big jayhawk conference and not even play the games. Everyone should bow down to KU's utter greatness and vast superiority. Everybody knows KU is stellar and Lawrence is the best community in the world. How dare a coach even comtemplate going back to where he started.
