Who even knows what offense we will be running? Who are our starting Olinemen? Who is our QB? Our 2nd WR? Who are our starting DEs? I don't know. I do know who our head coach is.

There is no effing way a team that went 4-12 last year, comes into the season with this many important unknowns and Herm Edwards as head coach and wins 10 games.

BigChiefFan 05-12-2008 03:49 PM

5-11 is about the best I can see us doing . Alot hinges on Croyle's ability and he sure hasn't shown much.

That's where you forfeit the game on account of the fact your left offensive guard's jock slipped down around his canckles, Mr. kc rush.

Well, like I said on the other thread: this will be nothing but a wild guess at this point, and not a very educated one given that we don't know about a lot of stuff that can change the outlook of our season or any of our upcoming opponents (rookie holdouts, injuries, additions / subtractions post June 1, training camp reports, preseason games, etc...)

But on the surface, I just don't agree with most of the "experts" that we won't even be competitive this year, and we won't even win as many games as last year.

If I had to guess right now, here's how I would guess:
09/07/08 at New England Patriots - LOSS (obviously)
09/14/08 Oakland Raiders - WIN (home opener vs. Raiders with QB with less experience than ours)
09/21/08 at Atlanta Falcons - WIN (they have a new system, I wasn't real impressed with their draft and they have even more needs than us, and I'm betting that Ryan Leaf starts the season as the starter)
09/28/08 Denver Broncos - WIN (homer that I am, although my opinion on this one will really depend on how we look in the preseason)
10/05/08 at Carolina Panthers - LOSS (on the road against a superior team, assuming Delhomme is back & healthy)
10/12/08 Bye
10/19/08 Tennessee Titans - LOSS (I doubt we've made enough progress to pull out a win)
10/26/08 at New York Jets - WIN (another opinion that may change, but I just think it will be difficult for them to get all those new faces on the same page)
11/02/08 Tampa Bay Buccaneers - LOSS (I think they've gotten better this offseason)
11/09/08 at San Diego Chargers - LOSS (we won't sneak up on them this time)
11/16/08 New Orleans Saints - WIN (benefit of the doubt because of the Arrowhead factor, and hoping that by this time of the year, the defense is clicking due to youngsters starting to gel)
11/23/08 Buffalo Bills - LOSS (don't kid yourself, this team is getting better - they went 7-9 last year with a ton of injuries, and they've gotten better this offseason)
11/30/08 at Oakland Raiders - WIN (again, probably the homer in me, but I just can't say we'll lose to these guys, even though it's always a close game no matter the records)
12/07/08 at Denver Broncos - LOSS (when's the last time we won in Denver?)
12/14/08 San Diego Chargers - LOSS (I would like to say WIN since it's at home, but not until I see proof that this coaching staff makes adjustments to the matchups in the second match-up of divisional opponents...maybe that changes this year from the new faces on the coaching staff)
12/21/08 Miami Dolphins - WIN (make no mistake: they will be better next year, but they're early in the process of rebuilding and installing new systems on both sides of the ball)
12/28/08 at Cincinnati Bengals - WIN (Cincy will be playing all practice squad players by this game since all their regular starters will be suspended, except Carson Palmer & TJ)

Right now, I'd say somewhere between 6-10 to 9-7.

Dolphins Falcons and Raiders are tossups...we'll probably split the Raiders, and the Broncos as bad as they were last year raped us both games so expecting a win there is expecting alot.

And beating Tampa, honestly we shouldn't be projecting any wins against teams that made the playoffs.

Hey.... we did make the playoffs two years ago... (although I'm not comparing them to us.). I agree whole heartedly. Those wins are iffy. The only one I could see is Buffalo. I think we will win anywhere from 6-10 games, but I'm leaning heavily towards the 6 end of that. I also think we could split with the Chargers just cause we seem to always split with our division (barring last year with the Donks)... So really, I think 6-8 wins is the best bet. We could win our division with 8-8 though... I mean, How could Norv screw up the Chargers last season. They should have won a bowl by now and if Marty was still here, they had it. Thank god for Norv Turner!

I have us 8-8 and really don't feel this is a stretch. We went 9-7 and made the playoffs 2 years ago. 4-12 last season. No reason we can't turn it around with how EASY this schedule is. Do it yourself and see.

Dave

8-8?
