The fatal flaw of terrorism as a strategy is that, whether it's London in 1940 or Israel any time in the past fifty years or New York today, terroristic acts galvanize one's enemy instead of its intended effect. Is there anyone here today who doesn't want to sow salt into the earth of whoever's responsible for this?

We must take our time - make sure we know who did this. We cannot start indiscriminantly attacking possible culprits. We must do this by the book: identify, declare war, destroy.

Actually, HC Chief, I had a parallel and somewhat opposite thought. Cap Weinberger was saying that a bunch of groups will step forward and claim responsibility for this and that we need to identify the actual group and then take them out.

My thought is, why? Anyone who claims responsibility for this, rightfully or not, should be put on our "to do" list, and we should just take them out one by one. It's time to call the exterminator.

Israel may get their land back.....but NOT starting anything but this is Biblical and is not looking good.....

I would agree - but it can be used against us as well.

If we kill a whole lot of people trying to get at some pissant group that wasn't responsible - only <i>rumored</i>/<i>reported</i> to be, it scores martyr points for their cause.

We must be level-headed. Make a clear determination, then attack with absolute force.
