When I was in 4th-5th grade, I had a friend who loved skateboarding. I loved part of it - the trucks. I never had the money, and my parents wouldn't spend the money on a board, but I would read his CCC magazines and put together a great board. But it was the trucks that interested me the most. Titan trucks, they were always my number one.
I've been on a skateboard probably less than 5 whole minutes in my life, btw. |
alright i was always to big and blessed with matchstick ankles. when my dad moved to spfld he bought a house across the street from the dude that started the skatepark that was off st. louis behind dillons, used to be a bar called The Hanger.
anyway this dude was some sort of born again x-junkie who was gonna save the kids with skate ramps and halfpipes. shittons of locals would come and skate every friggin day it was nice, junkiepreacher was the only game in town. this was my 1st introduction into lots of things hardcore being one of em and needless to say i never looked back. the boards i posted are ones i remember, and i remember this guy cause he murdered someone http://www.tonyhallamskateboarding.c...gatorbase2.jpg whatever, it was a good time. there was another board that came out around 87-89ish that didnt have rounded edges kinda had points where the rounded part should have been. odd but cool. any ideas? |

A classic.

I always wanted a deck that was white with simply "Skateboard" written on it. Sort of like in Repo Man, with the generic labeling.

Actually it was Paige decks. They're still around. Good decks and great prices:
http://skatepaige.com/ It also looks like they'll do custom printing. Your dream lives, Donger! |

I started skating the in the late 80's and I went through about half of those decks in that picture including the Gator, the Tony Hawk and the Bucky Lasek in there. My personal favorite was this Mark Gonzales board. I went through six or seven of those before I couldn't find them anymore. I still have a Schmitt Stix Yard Stick that is in perfect condition with the original Indy trucks and Sims wheels.
