Because most of the time, people will largely agree on players, but disagree on value. I don't think most of us would say no to Tebow, but is Tebow really 1st round talent? If not, 3rd? 7th?

Mocks ARE great.

Having people start a new thread each time they come up with a new mock?

Not so great.

There is literally no difference in someone putting up a mock and somebody starting a topic saying "I really like this guy" or "keep an eye out for this late rounder.

We want to group all those threads together, too?

Yeah, there is D.

The majority of talk about a specific player would be in one or two threads. People (at least in DraftPlanet) respect that another thread is already going about Player X, and refrain from starting another one.

Mocks, for some reason, people feel compelled to start new threads for, when it could be discussed just as easy in a thread just for mocks.

JMO.

Okay gang, as many of you know I still have friends at the highest level in the Chiefsplanet organization and have this info to share with full confidence: Draftplanet will be back. This announcement will come Thursday or Friday at the latest. Morphius and Daface are working out the finer points of this forum's location, but the deal is sealed. Also, Bob Dole informed Milkman and Direckshun they will be subject to much mod abuse. And if they don't like it, they can lick Bob Dole's asshole.

I only share this information because I'm no longer with the forum and it's fun to share that a new day is dawning at Chiefsplanet. OTW will quickly move to clean out the forum and hire a new mod.

The only info I have on the new mod is it will not be Kirk Ferentz from the Iowa Hawkeyes. Kirk coaches his son at Iowa and does not want to leave his bedside until his son graduates.

Mike Shanahan has contacted OTW, but I don't know any info beyond that.

I miss seeing Draft Planet up at the top....but I don't miss the 80 ****ing mock drafts that pop up.

HEY.....WE TRADE DOWN 20 TIMES IN THE 1ST ROUND!!!11!1!!!!!!111

there's no need to merge threads...except for special events like hirings and firings...

threads no one responds to will drop

threads that people respond to will stay on top

segregating the draft talk in a draft forum is sufficient to keep things in place...merged threads are abortions

it seems like we are continually trying to complicate and micro-manage things here...like the stupid Microsoft-like prefixes ("Hey, you want to post? Great, but instead of pressing one button, you have to press 3...we call it an upgrade at Microsoft!!")...it really isn't a complex operation, just post...

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..................

I still think each mock serves a unique purpose. And if anything else they keep the forum moving. But of course I feel that way; I posted a new one like once every week or so last year.

Mocks are a great way for me to float ideas out there and experiment with different combinations. I love the feedback. That may or may not deserve its own thread, but getting its own thread invites more feedback.

This.

Remember how people stopped visiting the Pioli Watch thread for news? We won't get as much discussion. At all.

People quit going to the watch thread because people were being dipshits.

Eh, honestly, it's less work for me. I could give a shit. Watch good threads get bumped, for bullshit, just like it does (and is right now) in the Lounge.

Why not relegate your mod responsibilities for that forum to a poster who wants it if it's too much work?

Read much?

Merging threads is less work.

The job itself is little/no work, unless some ****stick like Marlboro Chief goes on a porn posting spree.

God forgive someone trying to make the place more user friendly. If you all would rather wade through the shit, fine.

As draft time gets closer and closer certain mocks are going to be worth lots of discussion. Posting them all in one thread will block some of that.

For example, adding Rick Gosselin's annual mock to the butt of a 20,000 page thread is a terrible idea.

We, (at least I was) were talking about poster's mocks.

Any time an "expert's" mock comes out, it deserves its own thread.

ChiefsCountry 01-13-2009 11:23 PM

I think we just need to keep the mock's seperate like the Walter draft thread right now. Like have one for Walter, one for Scott Wright, one for McDouche etc. Put all the information from those into one thread I think it would work. For indivdual mocks, I dont know if we get alot of them - I do one, Direcky does a few but I dont remember a ton of them getting posted.
