When Herman Edwards was fired by the Chiefs on Friday, he said he was going to choose between working as a defensive backs coach, taking time off or trying his hand as a TV analyst. It looks like the bright lights of television have won out.

Adam Schefter reports that there is mutual interest between networks and Edwards, and all signs are that he’ll be spending the 2009 season in front of the camera.

It seems like the right move for Edwards at this point. He’s a good talker with strong opinions and he’ll have producers helping him with clock management. A third shot as a head coach may not be in the cards for Edwards, but if he does well on TV he could find himself in the mix at some point down the road.

Those that can't do teach, those that can't teach, go on tv.

He'll do fine on TV cause he's always got plenty of nothing to say. He needs to coach at the college level IMO.

Now, when there is a chance that someone close to the chiefs that would possibly have some interest in talking about them on the national stage, everyone isn't interested in hearing it because they love hating him so much because he was part of a team that didn't perform in a way that your candy coated dreams thought it should.

I am one that thnks Herm wasn't a huge part of the problems in KC, those were building up over the last half decade, and he was just here when it ended. If he ends up on CBS or wherever I would make an effort to watch him there in the hopes that he might say soemthing of interest about the team I choose to be a fan of....quirky phrases or made up words be damned.

What makes you think Herm would want to discuss a team that he failed miserably trying to coach, and got fired from?

He was fired. Why do we care what happens to him now?

They should make a Rod Marinelli Herm Edwards announcing crew to do all the basement dweller games. Have them wear bags over their heads to match the fans as well
