FYP

I married a single mom.

I've dated plenty of single moms and had no problems. It's the single ones with no kids who are itching to have a baby that you have to worry about.

paternity fraud

punishable by an almost significant lowering of child support payments... apparently

Child Support Services doesn't care who pays the bill, as long as someone pays it...

A number of years ago, a cop pulls into my driveway behind me, hands me a stack of papers, and says that someone is claiming I was the father of her child. Told me I had 30 days to respond, or they would start garnishing my wages.

Looking over the papers, this woman lived in Iowa (I live in MN), and claimed she had a one-night stand with someone by my name (which is a common name). There was also a description of the guy, which would only describe me if they stopped after "white male".

I had a lawyer friend help me out, and he mentioned that these things can get really nasty. If they tag you as the father for any reason, getting out of the payments is extremely difficult, and getting money back for past payments is pretty much impossible. In the end, I ended up sending a photocopy of my driver's license to Iowa Child Services, and the chick confirmed I wasn't the guy. At that point, I'm sure they moved on the next random guy with my name they could find in the midwest...

Oh, and this was just a couple months after I got married. Good times...

What I want to know is will they ever do anything that holds these women even somewhat responsible for their actions in these cases?

What would that be?

Put them in jail so they can't raise the child so the state has to do it?

What did she do anyway? She whored around. If people want to talk about sterilization programs, that's fine, but what else are you looking for?

It's all Obama's fault.

I realize the government's looking after the best interest of the child, but sticking some guy just because he was one of many who blew a load in mommy is outrageous. Let the bitch go on welfare if she doesn't know who the real father is. And make her get fixed before she collects anything, too.

This. Exactly. The guy got ****ed and had to go to jail, then gets out and the judge ****s him again by making him pay arrears. Soomeone should rape that judge with a file wrapped with a Brillo pad...

I'm through dating women who have to find a sitter to watch their kid everytime you want to see them. It gets to be a pain in the ass and I'm done dealing with them. Plus I'm not paying for somebody elses mistake.

Bwana 07-16-2009 02:52 PM

I seriously think I would go on a shooting spree. What a load of BS.

I understand protecting children, but these laws screw people more than they help.

Again why not get a simple law that states the dumb bitch needs to find the father..
