I don't drive 10+ year old vehicles in Missouri because I like old cars. It's to dodge the annual property tax. I've never driven vehicles this old.

You have to pay extra to live on that cookie sheet of dust called Kansas?

CO justed jacked up the rates for tags across the board $25 this year and $15 more next year. That's on everything including homemade trailers and anything else they can think of. It's gonna cost me $36.67 to tag my atv trailer that I made a couple years ago for about $200 in steel and parts. I'm not gonna renew 2 other trailers I own because of it. A friend of mine has a Ram 3500 that he just had to buy his first full year tag for and it was over 600 bucks.

I got warned several times but I just tell them I have businesses in both states. They can't prove otherwise. I also kept my Arkansas drivers license until it expired.

I once got a ticket in St Joe for having my car parked on a public street with expired tags.

It was parked outside the DMV, and I was inside renewing my tags at the time. I shit you not...

Surely you could get out of payng that. Take the receipt from the DMV in along with the ticket? Prove you took care of it that day? I figure that would be like not having your proof of insurance when you get pulled over. As long as you take it to court with you, they'll waive that part of the ticket (usually have a speeding ticket to go along with it).

Eh, maybe. But it's a moot point now. It was long ago, and I just paid it.

I figure that's quite a money maker for them.

Jesus.

Tags just doubled in price here in Delaware last year and we all bitched up a storm about it. Now we pay:

$40/yr. Guess we've got it good as it turns out, compared to many of you poor bastards...

You can get 5 year tags on new cars here, but inspection's required (at no extra charge) yearly after that. Occasionally, though, the DMV will send you a letter informing you that you don't need to get the inspection this year, just send us the $$.

Sales tax is only paid once- when buying the vehicle.

No property tax.

Feel lucky you don't live in KS man. I have to pay over $600 for my two vehicles this month. It's a load of crap too.

Yeah, I saw what others posted about that. I'd be in Topeka, lynching some lawmakers.
