Also you have to take into account what type of fire arm you are carrying.

Is it a Glock with no safety or say a Sig or Smith with a safety.

Makes a big difference.

i'm pretty sure he wasn't carrying a glock. it would be pretty hard to accidentally fire one even without a safety
