That is not the fault of the diet. That's the fault of the dieter and our society. Look at the shit we're surrounded by when we go to the grocery store.

There's an entire aisle dedicated to snack foods that have no value whatsoever except extra calories.

What's the #1 or 2 ingredient in most breads? High fructose corn syrup.

When you go to a restaurant, they give you portions big enough for two people. And then they offer you dessert! You don't need dessert -- do you know how many calories you just ate???

It's hard to resist, especially when these foods that provide no nutritional value to anyone except Michael Phelps also make themselves addictive.

A true low carb, high fat diet will always leave you feeling full enough that you don't want to eat more. I think a large problem with the lower carb diets is that they work, and then people get lazy and go back to their old eating habits. It's easier to grab a bag of potato chips for a snack than it is to eat healthy. That's just the nature of our society.

I did a low carb diet for the week, but generally speaking I diet on Saturday but a bit not quite as strict and on Sunday I have something I enjoy, I figure that is a solid way to do it.

Well I'm addicted to soda and I have a hard time believing I'll go the rest of my life without drinking any.

It's very hard to eat below your BMR without ingesting fat. Fat makes you feel full. Carbs do not. Carbs leave you feeling hungry by design. Not saying it's impossible, just difficult. That's why a lot of dieters fail. You have to have massive amounts of self-discipline to eat low calories and low fat.

It takes 6-8 days for your body to really get used to low-carb and switch over to fat-burning mode naturally.

I'm not going to be on a strict watch my carb count every single day diet, because I know that will not work for me in the long term.

And give me a break I've lost 40lbs.

That sucks, man. I mean, if that makes you happy, then go for it. But IMO, that's such a freaking waste. Not only of money, but if I'm going to be ingesting extra calories, I'll be eating something tasty, not having empty calories of soda.

Mecca 11-07-2009 06:46 PM

I'd rather have a Pepsi than eat something that's how good it is...

Not trying to be condescending. Just trying to correct misinformation. Keep losing the weight, bro. I'm happy for you.

Garbage.

I can eat 2,000 calories in a day and it's a hell of a lot easier than avoiding bread, pasta and cereal entirely.

I don't want to live that way.

I'd rather say **** it, eat 2,000 calories and mix in a little gym and cardio throughout the week. What could be simpler than that? And it's a more long-term solution, too.

Mecca 11-07-2009 06:47 PM

I actually lost 5lbs this week doing low carb, but my body just seems to burn weight fast when I want it too...I average about 4lbs a week.

Don't get discouraged when it slows down.

LOL I could never win...my goal is 180 and the absolute lowest I think I can weigh is 170, that isn't that much.
