Pay no heed to these skeptics, Mr. the_spatula. They know not what they do. Or don't do. Or did. Or didn't.
These boards, or similar systems, have been in use for millenia as a tool for divination. Many who engage in the Black Arts use them to call up spirits. The concept behind the board is very simple; the subconscious mind connects with spiritual dimensions which, in turn, activates an autonomic reflex of which the user is unaware. This causes the planchette to move - seemingly on its own. The problem is that, by opening up your subconscious mind to the Aethers, bad ass spooks can cross over from the astral plane and put some serious hurt on you with their long, bloody teeth, razor sharp claws, and uncontrollable appetites which lead them to inhabit the bodies of innocent people, constantly raid your fridge for cheese, and cause that crusty junk around the top edge of the salsa jar. When I want to know what is about to happen in the future, I prefer the Tarot. Or I just ask the beautiful and witty Mrs. FAX. FAX |
Ask the Ouija board if I should take the over or under on Sunday.

The first time I did acid, we drove with this older friend to a haunted hotel in Eureka Springs (The Crescent.. it's pretty famous) during the middle of winter. The place was pretty much deserted, and our friend taking us there knew the night shift man, so we ended up in Dr. Baker's room (who is the doctor that supposedly experimented on people there, causing the hauntings). We broke out the Ouija and the "acid" and proceeded to have our insanely weird night... or at least that's what we had hoped.
Unfortunately (or fortunately), the acid was bunk and we all decided that our friend was a douchebag and that he was the one moving the ouija board and trying to freak us out. We ended up just drinking a bunch and wandering the hotel hoping to see ghosts. |
