i think Arenas is going to be fine in the NFL and he's short

CB Javier Arenas - 5'9" 195 - Alabama

TE and WR are positions Pioli isn't very good at drafting..

1.Eric Berry.
2.Brandon Spikes.
2.Anthony Dixon
3.Jason Fox
4.George Selvie
5.Jeff Byers
5.John Estes
5.Cam Thomas
6.Jimmy Graham

Would love this but I doubt he falls this far. Not a huge Spikes fan at 2a either... would take him in a sec at 2b though.

If Damian Williams, Benn and Tate all fell that far, and we took Brandon ****ing Spikes, I'd cry.

yeah to get Berry and Spikes would work for me. I think Berry will fall to us at #5 but spikes won't last till our first pick in round 2. #37? He could go late 1st round.

Both players stock is lower than it should be at this time. I think it is from concerns about timed speed. Neither player is a burner, they just do about everything else superbly. Moeaki also has had a couple injuries that may be making teams shy away from him, but in no way should he go undrafted.

Kirk Ferentz even went as far as to say that Moeaki is the best tight end he coached and that is glowing praise due to Dallas Clarks success at the next level.

I think both players will have good careers and should be drafted in the fourth round.

Yeah, I think you're right about Thomas, as I think he probably goes before the 4th round.

I just made selection changes based on the mock here, and what I would do different for the Chiefs with each of the selections.

If we got Berry & Spikes, I'd be happy.
Based on how they are projecting the players to fall, I'd take the following in BOLD instead.
5 ) Kansas City Chiefs - S Eric Berry - 5'11" 203 - Tennessee
37 ) Kansas City Chiefs - ILB Brandon Spikes - 6'3" 258 - Florida
51 ) Kansas City Chiefs (from Atlanta) OT Kyle Calloway - 6'6" 322 - Iowa
69 ) Kansas City Chiefs - OT Ciron Black - 6'5" 331 - Louisiana State
104 ) Kansas City Chiefs - OL Matt Tennant - 6'5" 290 - Boston College

136 ) Kansas City Chiefs - WR Danario Alexander - 6'5" 221 - Missouri
143 ) Kansas City Chiefs (from Miami) - NT Cam Thomas - 6'4" 331 - North Carolina
174 ) Kansas City Chiefs - OLB Cameron Sheffield - 6'3" 256 - Troy State

If the draft fell like that and we added those O-lineman, I'd trade a few current lineman to the Rams for their first 7th rounder and get Freddie Barnes. I cannot see any way he lasts past the 5th.

Yes I'd go very heavy on the offensive line, but we'd theoretically be set for several years to come. We'd have to address the NT position prior to the draft and I sincerely hope we do.
RE: Cameron Sheffield, he would have been better served during his college career if he was playing LB instead of DE. He led Romeo's East squad in tackles during the Shrine game. I've seen a couple of sites with him going in the 3rd though so who knows.

Mecca 02-10-2010 10:25 PM

Javier Arenas has severe questions with his speed, being short and slow is not good for that position.

Haley will get a tightend somewhere before next season starts imo

I would argue while Pope & Cottam aren't the best tight ends we did block better when Pope played.

I'd rather have Blount than Dixon to be honest. Also I don't think Selive will be a good NFL player. Cam Thomas in the 5th round would be a steal.

That dude has 3 D2 players in the 3rd round. They happen to be my top 3 D2 prospects for this draft class. They must be getting some play on the draft sites. Good.

Easy 6 02-13-2010 06:58 PM

I really dont think another CB is necessary in the 4th, especially another 5'9 guy... but the rest looks groovy.

Safety, LB, RT, G, NT... not bad.

I like Spikes tude. Nose for the ball. Intangibles kind of thing.

6 interceptions in his college career. 4 of them returned for a TD.

Concur. The guy plays mean as hell, and despite everyone talking about his "lack of speed," he's always at the ball before anyone else. He's a very good blitzing MLB as well. Instinctive, strong, nasty and a leader on the field. Sounds like the qualities I'd like in a MLB.

Mecca 02-14-2010 12:46 AM

Just be aware there are numerous LB's that were once thought of as 2nd rounders that ran awful times and struggled to get drafted.
