I will keep those discussions to ourselves, but we have had those discussions and there are things that I want to do personally that will not only help myself, but also help the offense as we move forward.”

Q: What do you need to do personally?

CASSEL: “Like I said, those are discussions that have went on that I am not going to get into right now.”

He's a complete and total bitch, a less talented Grbac/Bono.

Croyle's game against BAL (a team w/ great defense) was better than almost anything Cassel did all season. And that was a week after Gailey was canned, Cassel got hurt and Croyle was thrown to the wolves.

Okay, so Brodie isn't the answer.

What QB do you least like in this draft?

The day Cassel is off the roster, will be the same as when Herm got fired and Carl resigned. Glorious day in Chiefs Nation!

He was thrown out on the field in 2006 while down 40 points to the Steelers.

In 2007, he was forced to play behind a shitty offensive line without the luxury of Larry Johnson as his running back.

In 2008, he was injured each time he started because the line was so ****ing bad and the only reason the Chiefs weren't a scoreless, true disgrace is because of the legs of Tyler Thigpen.

Croyle had to start on a moments notice in Week 1, 2009 IN Baltimore and played rather well. He didn't shit his pants, nor did he make any crucial errors.

If it were truly an open competition, Croyle would beat out Cassel each and every time.

Well, I could point out that he had the shot to beat out Damon Huard, and he couldn't do it. But that's beside the point. We can make excuses for guys like Croyle and Cassel all day long, bottom line is that they haven't performed in a Chiefs uniform.

But in your opinion then, Croyle is a franchise QB that you would move forward with and build your 2010 Chiefs team around, and he would lead them to an eventual championship? Because if we're talking about someone to replace Cassel, that's the type of QB I'd be looking for. I just really don't see Croyle being that guy...

Take it however you want to see it, but you didn't answer the question.

Croyle was a second year, third round draft choice with a history of injury. He had Dick Curl and Mike Solari as his offensive mentors. That alone would be difficult for a QB of ANY talent level.

Croyle most certainly performed in Baltimore last year. This offense is perfect for his skills. His inability to stay healthy has always been his issue, not talent or skill level.

Would I build a franchise around Croyle, with his inability to remain healthy week in and week out? Hell no. But he's got far more talent and upside than Matt Cassel.

The Chiefs should draft Clausen, hands down, no question asked. I just doubt they do it.

Just to be replaced with another backup.

Rinse. Repeat.

I guess the problem I have with Croyle is that he never stepped up when given a shot and took the proverbial bull by the horns. He's always appeared too laid back to me to be an effective franchise leader. I always look for those fiery, intense guys who have the drive to succeed, and that's why someone like Clausen is someone I'd take a hard look at if I were taking someone in the top 5 this year. I have no doubt that Croyle has a great amount of talent. Haley obviously has a high opinion of him, listing him as a key piece of the puzzle. Who knows, if Cassel struggles again this year, he may get another shot...
