There shouldn't be a single Big 10 team in the top 10, let alone 4 in the top 15.

How do you figure

That's a take based on perception and not reality. Have you seen Ohio State play? They won their bowl game and beat the team that a lot of people thought were top-5 material last year (Oregon). They're even better this year. Iowa only lost 4 or 5 starters off an 11-2 team that also won a BCS game.

Dude the Big 10 very well might be the best conference this year. I know I can tell you in week one the SEC and Big 12 looked extremely weak. Time will tell but just because OSU repeatedly fails in the big game doesn't necessarily mean the entire conference is shit. OSU craps their pants in big games usually because Jim Tressel plays overly conservative and shit ends up happening.

There is a ton of Big 10 hate around, and maybe rightfully so somewhat due to OSU's chokejobs but that conference repeatedly puts a ton of talent in the NFL and recruits well. The B10 performed pretty well in bowls last year too. I expect the Big 10 to have two BCS bowl teams w/ ease and probably 3 teams in the Top 10 at the end of the year.

Sick burn brah.

I'm not sure we'll have 3 Top Tens...attrition tends to knock teams out. I think teams like Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, and even Northwestern (as we learned last year) often rise up and win games against the top 3.

Is this your first day at ESPN?

It'll be interesting to see how the Big 10 does next week against Miami & Alabama. We'll also see if FSU is for real against Oklahoma and if Oregon puts up 77 on unranked Tennessee.

OSU, yes. PSU, no--they're overranked, in my opinion, only because they're playing with a freshman QB. I would be extremely surprised if they looked decent against Alabama. I think they'll get clubbed.

Yeah, I agree. If anybody in the Big 10 is overrated this year it is Penn State. I actually think Northwestern and Michigan could surprise people this year.

CaliforniaChief 09-07-2010 08:20 PM

Who knows? It's just too early. I think Bama runs Penn State out of the stadium. I think Miami will put up a good fight, but still falls short at C-bus.

Definitely some good games, though.

Great Expectations 09-08-2010 08:57 AM

Alabama, OU, Texas, Florida, Arkansas, TCU, Boise St, V Tech, USC, Oregon, LSU, North Carolina (preseason), Miami, G Tech, S Carolina would all be preseason favorites (probably top 2) to win the Big 10 if they were in that conference. The first 7 would absolutely be the odds on favorites to win it.

I agree.
