No kidding? Talk about bringing a paintball to a gun fight.

Build a gourmet cupcake store, a self-serve frozen yogurt shop, a nail salon, a taekwondo dojo, a nail salon, a gourmet burger joint, and a bar with a patio for cougars to congregate. You'll need an enormous parking lot for all of the minivans and SUVs full of Johnson County housewives who will make the pilgrimage.

x-mas trees and pumpkin patch?

Rain Man 04-12-2012 09:12 AM

I would be interested in buying it if you could deliver it to the Denver area.

Has anyone suggested building a doomsday bunker and selling slots in it?

I think you already know this, but seven acres in the middle of nowhere--especially if it is basically in your backyard--isn't going to yield a whole lot of money with the ideas you have so far. Two towns 20 miles away with 5K folks aren't going to pay for the costs of the paintball idea; if you want that for your own enjoyment, then go ahead and do it. But if you are expecting to actually make some money after landscaping changes, paintball equipment, liability insurance and possible rezoning of your land and the increased taxes from that, you're only kidding yourself.

Getting $200/year after herbacides, insecticides and fertilizer for brome on seven acres sounds like a good deal especially since you aren't doing any of the work. A plot that small is usually too small for anyone to waste their time any more.

If you want to put in a little effort, you could start a small "sustainable farm" and make a killing with it. Real, organic food commands a premium these days. Check out these guys:

They are actually based in KC so it really shouldn't be too hard to go and see what they are doing in person. If the stuff they do works in the inner city, it certainly can be done in the boonies.

Driving range?

Pumpkin or water melon patch?

Corn maze......

UFO viewing station. Build a 10-foot deck and charge visitors $5 to stand on it. Then put an overpriced snow cone stand at the base of it.

From what I saw last week, the female population in your area is in dire need of a fitness center. Do the men in your area a favor and find a way to make bitches do work... while paying you for the experience.

Shooting range?

I've always thought that people would pay good money to participate in a "Top Shot" type weekend. Build a little cabin that sleeps like5 or 6, and plan shooting competitions with guns people don't really ever get to shoot. Something like that would be different, and I for one would be interested in something like that. Heck, it could just be for a day thing too, no need for lodging. I just think it would be pretty kick ass.
