But that just seems ignorant and uneducated. Not misused, used wrongly or not needed.

Okay.

Whatever.

The original point was, and still is, that a player is not a "dominate" player.

He's a "dominant" player.

And, yes Donger, I know that the commas and periods are supposed to be inside the quotes.

However that rule was put into place because of printing and displacement.

That was not the rule prior to printers, and the British still continue to place the punctuation outside the quote.

And just why, you may ask, do they belong there? Well, it seems to be the result of historical accident. When type was handset, a period or comma outside of quotation marks at the end of a sentence tended to get knocked out of position, so the printers tucked the little devils inside the quotation marks to keep them safe and out of trouble. But apparently only American printers were more attached to convenience than logic, since British printers continued to risk the misalignment of their periods and commas.

Are you British?

Are you British?

No.

But since I slept through high school, and didn't learn proper punctuation, as developed by some happy ****ing accident of printing, I use logic in placing punctuation.

milkman 04-27-2012 01:27 PM

Oh, and sorry, my bad.

I made a typo.

Ceej 04-27-2012 01:28 PM

Do the grammar police not care about spelling? Does this qualify as "word misuse" to you?

Grammar police always end up looking like the idiots. Demanding perfection while not being able to deliver it themselves..........love it! :thumb:

There's a big difference between a typo and using the wrong word, you ****ing dumbass.

I challenge you, again, go find an example of a word that I used incorrectly.

And, no, I'm not perfect, you useless prick.

But I do know the difference between simple ****ing words.

Did I use an incorrect word, by definition, or just an unneccesary word?
