That seriously has to be the one of the hardest decisions to make. Do you jump or do you stay? Knowing full well you're going to die either way.

Me too and I'm fairly afraid of heights. Anything is better than burning alive though. It would be terrifying to do it but the pain would be nothing more than instantanious and gone if at all... likely not at all. In some way jumping seems more like taking charge of your own destiny as well... albeit not much of a destiny.

I heard someone says "Why are they jumping" on the video. Well... think about it.

It'd be tough to just give up and jump.

Even if there is a 0.0000001% chance living it is still a chance.

Just guessing here of course... but I can imagine it gets somewhat easier once the heat from the fire becomes too much to bear or flames start getting to you. At that moment I can see making the choice.

You're talking to CoMoChiefs, right?

A year or so ago I was driving back to my hometown from where I'm currently at - it was about an 1 1/2 hour drive. I happened to be listening to Howard Stern, and they replayed the 9/11/01 show. It was incredible. They saw the buildings hit from where they were in NYC. The entire demeanor changed instantly. Gave me chills.

From the 9/11 thread.

Watching the videos make me feel like a douche. I think about all the things I take for granted in life, and it really makes me disappointed in myself. I think about the people who lost everything on that day, really hit me square in the eyes.

Sure, I get that.

I wouldn't wish anyone to have to make that decision.
