The Yep Comptroller Counted Out 744 Yeps on this deal right here.
Although, if your team's payroll is over-brimming with quality players, it stands to reason that, from time-to-time, you're going to have to sacrifice someone you would prefer to keep around.
Losing Carr was completely stupid ... particularly in light of the fact that Carr explicitly stated he would have preferred to stay in KC. We came "this" close (making tiny, squeezie gesture with thumb and mr. pointer) to having one of the best (if not "the" best) corner tandem in the league for a whole lot of years. There is value in that whether Pioli wants to admit it or not. Particularly when you have almost zero pass rush and your defensive line is next to useless in passing situations. His "justification" that he didn't want to upset Flowers is nonsensical and laughable on its face.
There were other cases as well, though. I have no doubt that Pioli wanted to rid himself of Gonzo and Waters simply because, as veterans, the young players would listen to and be influenced by them when they bristled at Dr. Evil's insanity. Apparently, we can only keep players around who do not salivate excessively whist kissing the ring.
