Royals fired hitting coach Kevin Seitzer after last season and hired two guys to replace him. Big Head Ned said he wanted more homers this year. How is that going? Let's look at the three big bats: 1B Hosmer, 3B Moose, RF Fancouer: Hosmer so far: After 131 ABs: 244 average, 1 HR, 4 doubles. Moose: 4 HRs, is 1 for his last 28 and hitting below .200. Francouer: 1 HR, 4 for his last .36 ABs. Who has as many homers as Hosmer and Francouer? Getz, Johnson, Dyson, Cain, Perez and Kottaras. What does this mean? It means we're losing because we're scoring around 3 runs per game. Royals are 1-5 when ace pitcher James Shields gives up 2 or fewer runs. Royals were supposed to be built on speed and defense. The Royals are third worst in the AL in errors. This team's lack of slugging is mind boggling. The only guys who seem capable of hitting a ball out of the yard is Gordon and Butler. Everybody else has been punchless. You can't have two homers from your catchers, one from your right fielder, one from your center fielder and one from your first baseman with one quarter of the season gone. That's just unacceptable.
