Ayn Rand would say that no one ever does anything out of a sense of true altruism. She'd say that even Mother Teresa did what she did to satisfy her own self interest. Then she'd probably call you a dickbag anyway.

nice deed....

....that said ...the spirit of giving doesn't come with qualifiers...wouldn't you agree?

Good work.

Now I'm leaving this thread because it's infected with the odor of Chris.

I've always believed that. My microecon teacher talked about that all the time.

I have done similar in a few instances. However don't give cash or gift cards if you want the reciever to buy food. Chances are he won't. Buy him food. Once a week buy him a hotdog for 40 weeks. Just saying bro. But I do absolutely love the kind spirit you are and where your intentions are.

I don't recall him mentioning that his act was purely altruistic.

We all gain some amount of personal satisfaction from helping others. This doesn't diminish the actual act. Bravo Zulu, SR!

P. S. I occasionally have similar ideas, but I just buy the man a meal so I have peace of mind that those dollars aren't directly being smoked, toked, intravenously injected, or converted to a cardboard box of Napa's finest. Yes, I do it to make myself feel better but the recipient of the meal doesn't seem to care.

Literally, just started covering this in psychology.

I think so Stevie, I agree, I think.

It's just easier to contribute to hunger versus thirst :)

Heck it's better than not caring - or trying to help, when and to the amt. that you can. Kudos to you, too sir. :clap:

Thanks for noticing. This is for you my freind think of these things and lay it all done for LOVE . The man that sits in the back of the congregation and beats his chest saying YHWH forgive my I am a sinner in need of your Grace ., that man goes home vindicated.

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is error, truth;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Thanks Chris. :)
