IIRC the Chiefs were looking at Horton as a HC before hiring Reid. I don't ever recall Horton's name being mentioned as DC.

We had already hired Reid.

He asked the Cardinals if he could talk to the Cardinals about Horton as the DC if they weren't going to hire him as the coach and were denied.
