Defense lost this game but where was Alex in the second half?

Playing without Charles, without avery, then lost Knile, and playing against a defense that completely stepped up its intensity.

There are two plays that really bite me.

The drop by bowe on 3rd and 5, and Alex Smiths fumble.

Without those two plays. I think the Chiefs win the game.

Alex put up 31 first half points and 13 in the 2nd half that should win you games.

I'm not saying he didn't do a good job yesterday but when we needed him most he didn't come through. Granted the D shit the bed but you have to spread the blame around evenly.

Why are you waiting? You have 3 years of tape on him and how he's gotten better each and every year playing with Harbaugh and now Reid.

You wait and the price tag just goes up. It's not going down.

He should absolutely be extended this off-season and this franchise should make a 3-4 year commitment to him. He's earned that.

"I need to see how he does carrying a team", "If Jamaal goes down, no way can Alex Smith move this offense" "Come playoff time, he'll fold". These were just some statements I've heard/read over the last 3 months.

His play has been fantastic when this defense has shit the bed.

He's not just going to all of a sudden turn into a pumpkin when he gets paid. He's been paid a ton in his career.

Alex Smith would gladly accept all the blame for this loss.

And he isn't without blame.

Jump to 5:20 Alex just missed him.

I've watched that clip several times.....Gray made the mistake that many rookie receivers make....he was too busy looking back for too long, and HE DID slow down. Even worse was the fact that he could have laid out, like the good ones know to do, and try to catch it that way.

I don't get pointing this one solely on Smith....unless you have an agenda.

Didn't the Chiefs get the ball back via turnover after the Bowe 3rd down drop? Honest question.

I don't agree with any of this.

Bowe has to be aware of where he is on the sideline. That was a great throw.

There's a reason that QBs who throw for 350 and 4 TDs never have lost in the playoffs before. It's because the defense they play with actually made a stop when it mattered.

did I say he wouldn't take the blame? He is a stand up guy. I'm just saying lets not get carried away with the extention. You want to extend him fine but don't give him some ridiculous Cassel contract.

He is also not going to demand franchise qb money. He is all about the TEAM.

That also to me makes him worth keeping. He doesn't over value himself. He would rather have a 5 or 6 year deal, for less, than 3 years for more. He just wants a team to want him. Whats wrong with that?

No, no you don't. People sure weren't doing that when Alex was terrible the first 8 games and the defense was playing lights out and winning the game every week.

The reality is most of you people are miserable human beings looking for an excuse to bitch. Period.

Coming from someone with your track record, I take that to mean I'm doing something right. You're correct just about as often as the proverbial blind squirrel finds the nut.

Honestly? I do not remember. Im going to guess they did. It just stuck out as a play that could of run more time off the clock.

chiefquarterback10 01-05-2014 03:19 PM

seriously. watch it again, gray was the one to blame

WTF? I'm not looking for a reason to bitch. I'm just pointing out that this was a team loss.
