It just means "I don't like him as a QB". "Game manager" "Elite" "Franchise QB" are all really just us attempting to act like there's some objective status that makes a QB we like worthy and others not

an asshole in disguise, really

Not other teams players or network talking heads....or basically anyone that has watched Alex Smith prior to the last 7 games of the 2013 season (including playoff game). |

Everybody other than chiefs fans have labeled him a game manger. That's fine as long as he can win this franchise a playoff game.

The answer is simple. A game manager is a quarterback who isn't going to hurt your team. He can consistently move the ball and with a good running game he can be part of a lethal offense. But he also won't necessarily lead the team to victory on his own accord if other thing go wrong. If the defense is getting gashed and the team is down by 21 points going in to the 4th quarter he probably won't be able to make up the deficit. If the running game gets completely shut down he will be hard pressed to carry the offense on his own. If the team is dealing with injuries at wide receiver or tight end he's probably not going to make the replacements look better than they are.
You can win with a game manager. But you probably need some combination of a great defense, great offensive line, or a great running game. |

Game manger for life! Point blank

What's funny is that you guys will NOT call him a game manager even though non other than Andy Reid called Smith a game manager on an nfl network interview.

That guy is right, Laz. Google "game manager" and Alex Smith is LITERALLY 3 of the top 9 search results. |
