If you're a GM and you want to bank a check for a long time, it's better to go this route. "Look at all the improvement!!" Parcells did the same thing in Miami with a sham "rebuild" and got praised incessantly for it, when in reality, all he did was take the obvious steps anyone could towards building a mediocre roster.

It's sad really, the fans deserve more than mediocrity.
