And that's a reason why the rule was changed to require minimum games/innings.

I've seen the eligibility rules referenced in few stories and Cain didn't meet them, but I can't explain why Kevin Kiermaier apparently did despite less innings and games at his position.

It's a big reason people thought he should be in the HOF. Borderline HOF stats, but his gold glove defense put him over the top.
